Bucks center Ekpe Udoh out 4-6 weeks after knee surgery

The Bucks thought they were going to have some good depth along the front line this season, but it hasn’t taken long for injuries to change that.

Backup center Ekpe Udoh will be out 4-6 weeks following arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Friday, the team announced. Udoh played a limited role with the Bucks last season, averaging 4.3 points and 3.3 rebounds a game, but was expected to get more run this season. However through the preseason all we had seen of Udoh was him on the bench with a knee brace. This hopefully cleans this up.

Larry Sanders is the starting center and it was expected Udoh and Zaza Pachulia would battle for backup minutes. However, injuries could change that. Pachulia is just getting back to one-on-one drills after having Achilles surgery last April. With Ersan Ilyasova having an ankle sprain keeping him out, expect a whole lot of Sanders and John Henson up front when the season starts.

We’ll see if when Udoh gets back a few weeks into the season he can work his way into Larry Drew’s rotation.
