Kobe Bryant shares what his knee procedure looks like

Oct 8, 2013, 10:39 AM EDT

Kobe Bryant was in Germany last week, apparently not for Octoberfest — while every other American tourist is Instagraming photos of them with liters of beer, Kobe posted this one of his knee procedure. He got more Platelet Rich Plasma therapy and this is what it looks like if it were your knee.

The Lakers said Monday they knew about Kobe going to Germany during training camp to get the procedure, which contradicts previous comments from Mike D’Antoni, but what else are they going to say? Maybe it’s true, maybe not, but Kobe is the 800 pound gorilla on the Lakers and he does what he wants.

Kobe continues to work diligently at his return, but we have no real idea when that will be. More and more it feels like a little bit into the season, but betting against Kobe’s recovery is never wise.

I wholeheartedly expect some kind of smart-ass trolling comment about hgh, on this article from antistratfordian he’s been on a role with the idiocy lately

Mamba gets Regenokine therapy (Orthokine), which is a little different than Platelet Rich Plasma therapy. You can get PRP therapy in the United States as two methods are approved by the FDA (Dwight Howard had PRP therapy for his shoulder in Los Angeles in February), but you have to travel abroad to get Regenokine as it is not approved by the FDA.

Orthokine/Regenokine is similar to or even sometimes called a derivative of Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy (PRP).

In the United States the treatment is not approved, but it still can be performed by doctors with “off label” use. Which is perfectly legal.

Nevertheless, they are not the same thing.

I donate plasma twice a week. I can only hope they don’t use it for evil like fixing Kobe’s knee.
