Tyreke Evans leaves with an ankle sprain in preseason debut with Pelicans (VIDEO)

Oct 5, 2013, 11:00 PM EDT

The Pelicans signed Tyreke Evans to a large free agent contract this summer, so obviously the last thing they want to see is the player they just invested in go down with an injury in the first game of the preseason.

Evans landed awkwardly after hitting a shot in the lane early in the second quarter of the Pelicans’ preseason opener in Houston, and required help to make it from the floor into the locker room.

The X-rays were negative as far as showing any fractures, but an MRI is on the horizon for Evans in the coming days.

Reek reeks. Am SO GLAD we finally got right of him and he is now someone else’s problem. He has been putting up those awkward, unorthodox, reckless (or is that reekless) shots since time memorial. He’s an ignorant player who plays like he is some unruly hood baller. His career will be short. The Pelicans are. Good team for him to waste away on. Enjoy y’all

Yo! Let me tell you something, if it wasn’t for “hood baller”(s), as you so eliquently put it, the NBA would be the most boring sport on television. Count your blessings.
