Clippers unveil new powder “Back in Blue” short-sleeve uniforms

Sep 30, 2013, 4:45 PM EDT

Adidas Clippers light blue

While some people just hate them, the short sleveed uniform is not going anywhere for a while. Why? Because the league thinks they can sell a chunk of them as alternate third jerseys to guys (and ladies) who might not where a traditional tank top jersey. Secondly, if you were looking for a place to subtly place an ad on a jersey, sleeves are handy things.

The latest one is the Clippers, who will wear a new baby blue uniform, which you see to the right. A few of the players modeled them at Media Day Monday.

They will first be worn Oct. 14 in a preseason game against Denver. Here is what adidas (makers of all NBA jerseys) said about the choice:

“Light blue has a rich history with the organization and has been a part of the team’s identity since they were the Buffalo Braves in the 1970’s.”

True. And personally I like them, but I’m not offended by the sleeves as some are.

Sacramento Kings colors…Reggie Theus would love these

They should just wear long sleeves under their tanks like the other fat guys at the Y.

Terrible. Just terrible. The aesthetics are all wrong. The proportions are all wrong.

In Golden State’s case the tops and the bottoms don’t gel together as a cohesive outfit. To make the top work aesthetically the shorts should be something more like spandex – they’d look like cyclists so that’s a no-go – but that’s how the uniform would make sense visually from top to bottom. Right now there is an abrupt sea change at the waist in every design sense and it’s just off putting, imo.

its a gimmick for adidas.they are hoping it sells well. they are acting like people wanna wear it like a baseball jersey or something. these things are tight to the skin ,so the average jersey wearer who is normally a bit bigger isnt gonna buy them as they are sking tight.they wont fit like a baseball jersey either. all these TIGHT fitting sleeved jerseys look like womens volleyball jerseys from the ncaa. this will be a trend just like the trend with teams using the cartoon and pinstriped during the mid to late 90’s and early 2000’s ala the rockets,cavs,raptors,grizzlies,philly,bucks,etc….. these will be gone in a few years!!

These would look infinitely better if they ditched those stupid sleeves

Tight, baby blue super-short sleeve jerseys…looks like a woman’s top that a dude would buy for his lady to make her look cute as he drags her along to the game or Buffalo Wild Wings.

Pretty sure those are the exact same uni’s the girls basketball team wore at my high school in 1977.

Those actually look pretty good – its nice to see a team not have to ‘make-up’ a black jersey just to appeal to the thug crowd – right, Lakers?

  13. fearthehoody - Sep 30, 2013 at 9:11 PM

Funny these are made for fattys who wont wear tank tops but these jerseys are skin tight and form fitting. Dud

“Stop biting” Wow! I have not heard that since the 90’s

Everyone keeps say this are for big people who won’t wear jerseys. You guys are obviously not from Texas. I wish people would wear these instead that way I don’t have to look at some gnarly and hairy side boob.
