Rockets unveil state-of-the-art new locker room (VIDEO)

Sep 28, 2013, 12:30 PM EDT

Most would agree that the Rockets were the biggest winners in free agency this summer, inking one of the game’s best all-around players in Dwight Howard to a five-year deal that puts them in the championship conversation for the upcoming season.

The franchise apparently decided to go all-in with their facilities too, and unveiled a state-of-the-art new locker room at media day on Friday.

The initial impression is that the bright video boards above the lockers is a cool touch, and one that’s unmatched by any team around the league. But it also seems like stimulation overload in a place that should be a bit of a sanctuary for players to prepare before games, and decompress after them.

Why players can’t have private dressing rooms is still beyond me. They can be small like the size of a Marshall’s or Ross but to be taking shoes, socks, and underwear off with a man three feet away is odd.

Lol, if I’m getting paid more money than most see in their lifetime, I’m not going to give a crap about some other guy changing. I’m gonna be focused on putting a ball through a hoop and playing good defense.

Shhhhh, no one tell Leslie Alexander you can’t throw money at something to win. (Lebron withstanding)

That doesn’t seem unnecessary at all.

thats how all owners should treat their players, since these guys go out and actually make the money for the teams. I bet once this catches on, in 10 years Houstons locker room will be obsolete as other owners one up them with bigger and better.

For some reason Howard gets the only double! Must be a clause in the contract.
