Bargnani working out with Knicks, still recovering from pneumonia

Some Knicks fans seem to have an unrealistic expectation of what Andrea Bargnani will bring to Manhattan this season. Count me in the group that thinks the attitude changes once they see him play, but this is what the time before training camp starts is for — unbridled optimism.

But first they need to get Bargnani on the court.

He just missed out in playing for Italy at EuroBasket due to pneumonia but things are looking better, Raymond Felton told Marc Berman of the New York Post.

Bargnani comes in needing to be a shooter for the Knicks, but the past two seasons he has shot 30.3 percent from deep. And been often injured. And he doesn’t play defense. But unlike Steve Novak, Bargnani can put the ball on the floor when he has to, such as when a defender closes out to fast. There are things Bargnani could do to help the Knicks’ offense.

But first he has to get back on the court, he has to get healthy. At least that seems to be going well.
