Quote of the Day: Terrell Owens thinks he could play in NBA

“I could play, I’m better than Luke Walton!”

—Former NFL wide receiver Terrell Owens, appearing on ESPN’s Sports Nation.

Should we tell Owens that Luke Walton isn’t in the NBA right now? He doesn’t even have a training camp invite this season, his 10-year NBA career could be done.

Or to put it in SAT form: Luke Walton is to the NBA as Terrell Owens is to the NFL right now.

I could get into the whole “even the worst NBA player is so much better than you think” discussion, but I’m just not up for it. Go find the YouTube of Brian Scalabrine taking on random people.

I’d love to see Walton and Owens 1v1 on a basketball court soon! Someone make it happen!

    • topdawg4ever - Sep 12, 2013 at 11:56 AM

SportsNation needs to make it happen!

he plays 3 guys 1 on 1 and then plays 1 on 3 afterwards

For the first time ever I’m actually quite pleased to see Terrell Owens’ narcissism in the headlines; because he’s no longer relevant and I can say with confidence, “NOBODY CARES!” And I won’t be baited into a ridiculous argument like that one.

He’s flat broke. yapping for some play to get some stunt $$ paycheck. Look for the clown to end up on WWE or fight some MMA. Hope Walker takes him on and flattens the chump. Maybe we can have Rodman take him to North Korea to play ball for Mr. Kim………Loser gets 15 years in prison.

Damn T.O. looks old. He probably could have in his physical prime, but not now.

  5. scottychicago - Sep 12, 2013 at 11:25 AM

He also thinks he can play in the NFL too. LOL

    • badintent - Sep 14, 2013 at 1:14 AM

Poor TO. The delusion never stops.

  7. skinsfanwill - Sep 12, 2013 at 12:00 PM

I personally think he could beat Luke Walton. That dude was a bum. Got a nice pay check for being the son of a HOF’er. That was about it.

  8. doubleogator - Sep 12, 2013 at 12:09 PM

With his ego he probably thinks he could beat Roger Federson at tennis too…

    • 24thesho - Sep 14, 2013 at 9:54 PM

      Federer, dude. C’mon, mang.

  9. azarkhan - Sep 12, 2013 at 12:29 PM

The only major league that Owens belongs in is the Major Jerk League.

  10. louhudson23 - Sep 12, 2013 at 1:29 PM

Better than Walton at what? Walton, when healthy filled his role very well for some good Lakers teams. Being an ineffective scorer is less valuable than being a good passer, rebounder and zone defender who understands the offense, maintains his spacing and makes the game easier for his teammates…if indeed that is what the team needs…

    • badintent - Sep 14, 2013 at 1:16 AM

Very nice points. Sweet Lou hits 2 ! Hawks win

T.O is great at the game of “made you look”, that’s about it anymore.

  12. mp4philly - Sep 12, 2013 at 2:58 PM

Of Roger Federson(not sure who the guy is, sounds like a Roger Federer knock off) played T.O. I’d have to put my money on T.O.

  13. nygrwy - Sep 12, 2013 at 3:34 PM

I bet Walton has more money in the bank and a couple of rings…..

Terrell Owens you chose the wrong sport to be famous in . You were one of the greatest players in NFL history and you should be in the Canton Hall of Fame . You still crave glory , attention and honor , but alas and alack , you grew older and had to stop playing a young man’s game . All the old guys that played football , baseball , and basketball are all like you they start every sentence with , ” I remember when ……”
The only sport that protected it’s own was Golf . I present to you the Champions Tour where old codgers just like yourself are making millions every year and still playing the game . Pro’s like Palmer , Niclaus, Trevino , Watson , and some up to their sixties are still playing and raking in huge jackpots every week . Endorsements and appearance fee’s rake in even more .

    • badintent - Sep 14, 2013 at 1:21 AM

He should read Jimmy Connors website. Motivation speaking for big bucks. He could talk about playing in the SB with a broken ankle and playing well. And leave it at that.
But TO would have to take golf lessons from Tiger to get some game and we all know how that would turn out……………………one huge ego bumping another huge ego. Or they could just talk about shagging waitresses in the bushes behind Denny’s

  15. lhollis74 - Sep 13, 2013 at 2:57 AM

Oh look T.O. Is showing us again why he couldn’t get a job the last couple years! Cuz he still doesn’t know how to just shut the f@$k up! Just listen to the way he validates himself and comments, by disparaging Luke Walton. We all have flaws and problems, and every nfl gm knows that Owens will eventually point yours out to the world via media. He can’t help it, it’s a character flaw. He thinks he better than Walton!? Hmmm, yeah I guess I’ll believe that Owens could fit seamlessly into a teams rotation without rocking the boat, be a great teammate, pass the ball often and effectively, learn a complex motion offense, and run it with no problems! NOT!!!

  16. lhollis74 - Sep 13, 2013 at 3:03 AM

As an African American, there have been, and still are a handful of athletes that are just an embarrassment, and over the years Owens has definitely been on that list, please just go away!

  17. 24thesho - Sep 14, 2013 at 9:52 PM

Man, he can’t even play by himself in the bathtub without the rubber duckie wanting to get away from his dumb ass.
