Kobe jumps does 40-foot dive into pool (VINE)

Aug 30, 2013, 1:57 AM EDT

While we thought Kobe Bryant would be doing some pool work to recover from his Achilles surgery, this is not exactly what we pictured.

Kobe posted this Vine Thursday night of him jumping off a 10-meter platform into a pool. The judges like the dive but the low degree of difficulty is going to hurt his score. That and the splash will keep his number down.

Although, if we’re going to be picky, and that is a standard 10 meter competitive diving platform, it’s really only 32.8 feet. Still, good to see Kobe having some fun.

Im glad LBJ doesn’t take risk like that. Use your head.

Tell me more of how jumping into an empty pool is the most dangerous thing in the world.

Gimmicky but fun way to show the rehab is going well.

Kobe loves his hashtags. Pretty sweet jump, though. It looks really high when you’re up there.

Yeah he did an inverted dive or as the 8 year olds call it a “toothpick”

He didn’t necessarily jump. He walked off and let gravity do the rest. However it’s still very impressive of how fast he is recovering. As a Celtics fan it pains me to say that I look forward to his return, but I really do. Honestly what is the NBA without Kobe?
