People can’t really pronounce Giannis Antetokounmpo’s name in Greece, either

Can you say Giannis Antetokounmpo? by sport24tv

We showed you Bucks fans struggling with the pronunciation of the team’s first round draft pick, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and given the unfamiliar collection of letters that comprise his last name, this was the expected outcome of this fun little exercise.

But people from Greece, where Giannis is from, should be able to do a better job of it, right?

As it turns out, not so much.

Bucks are at a turning point. They can play big talents like GA a lot, developing and getting high picks while maintaining the perfect types of players necessary to facilitate trades for disgruntled players (Mayo, Knight, Ilyasova) OR they could revel in mediocrity and leave their best on the bench

it really just Looks long ‘n intimidating …besides the nmp section the rest is easy, but even that isnt so hard. it’s just that ppl try to over-pronounce a short sound b/c they think when looking at it that they have to

Thats because his last name is a Nigerian name not a Greek name like his first name which nobody has a problem pronouncing!
