Matt Barnes tells Lakers fans to stop living in the past, that the Clippers are L.A.’s best team

Matt Barnes has never been shy about voicing his opinions, even when they’re unsolicited. But diving head first into the comments on a photo posted to Nick Young‘s Instagram for no apparent reason sure seems like an odd decision.

Then again, Barnes is no stranger to those, either.

The story goes like this: Young posted a photo of the Lakers’ practice facility, with a caption that read “That’s what’s it all about #Ships.”

The photo had received over 15,500 likes, and several comments from Lakers fans in support of one of their team’s free agent acquisitions.

Barnes, a former Laker who is now entering his second season with the Clippers, apparently wasn’t down with all the pro-Lakers talk. So he chimed in with a comment of his own, captured by Phillip Barnett of Lakers Nation.

We know this came from Barnes because the Instagram account he used is the same one he links to from his verified Twitter account.

As for the comments themselves, there was nothing too inflammatory, really. The Clippers are expected to contend for one of the top spots in the Western Conference, while most are wondering if the Lakers will simply make the playoffs.

But as Barnes noted, Los Angeles will always be a Lakers town — despite whatever temporary modicum of success the Clippers are able to achieve. It’s just more than a little strange that Barnes decided to hit up a fellow NBA player’s social media account to get his point across.

Well yeah, probably cause the Clippers did suck when he was a Laker

he’s right and everyone know it. The only entertaining thing about a laker game is all the media hype given to a low seed playoff team and who they will blame next for their problems.

Matt Barnes is a knucklehead but he’s right. The clippers are a better team than the lakers, and for everyone saying they’re bragging about the pacific division title…they also went head to head with lac coming out undefeated. Oh and lac was a higher seeded team with the best chance to make it. Also keep in mind the general direction lal has been going, lal is done without dr. Buss

We will all hold our breath until we see a championship banner hoisted for the Clippers. Fortunately sports records and team achievements are not based on a one or two season performance. The Celtics and Lakers are still the franchises that other teams would love to aspire to. Matt Barnes loves to talk but can anyone remember when he has ever led any team to a championship. He should probably calm down and just play in his reserve role and leave the talking to others.

Yeah, the Clips are better now, but not because of this bozo. Congrats, only took what, thirty, thirty five years? Who cares what this spare part has to say about anything?

No doubt about it the Clips are a better team than the Lakers, truly a miracle that only the great David Stern can claim responsibilty.
    So be it.
    ALWAYS a Laker Fan.
a Clipper fan ONLY when the Lakers are eliminated.

Not to mention, when he was with da Lakers in da playoffs/finals he Cudnt hit a 3-pointer to save his life, he’s da only player to average more fouls than points!! And all y’all bandwagon riders can thank da NBA for da veto of Chris Paul trade, I’m sure Dwight wud have stayed in LA wit CP3 n Da Mamba
