Knicks’ Metta World Peace says he will “fight for the city”

Metta World Peace will bring toughness, and he will bring some needed perimeter defense, but mostly he will bring a lot of fun quotes for the media to the New York Knicks.

World Peace operates without much of a filter, he is impulsive and in some ways he’s like a big teenager having fun. He’s matured the last few years, he is serious about his craft, but he’s still Metta World Peace.

And he was on Fox Sports’ new channel talking Knicks Wednesday and the New York Post caught the show.

The always colorful and controversial Metta World Peace promised he will have no problems fitting in quietly with the Knicks because he wants a ring and promised, “I’m going to fight for the city.’

“It’s easy when playing on a team to do exactly what the coach asks of you and do what it takes to win,’’ World Peace said… “Don’t fall into the category of egos or ‘I want to be the superstar or I should get more shots.’ We need a ring. That’s all that matters.’’

He’s going to be a fan favorite, because he will bring it every night. He will fight for the city and his teammates. Kobe Bryant loved his mentality. He is fearless. He can be prone to some bad shots and he’s not the defender he was five years ago, but he will be a good upgrade for the Knicks.

If he, Iman Shumpert and Tyson Chandler can elevate the Knicks defense they become a more interesting and dangerous team.

Man I’m still hurting that he’s gone, but if he was going to go anywhere else I’m glad he got a chance to go back home and possibly play out the rest of his career there. NY got one helluva player/person. Not a Knicks fan but I will be rooting HEAVYYY for them. They got two of my all-time favorite players (Chandler, Artest).

He belongs in NY.. I feel like it’s the best fit for both parties.

Enough of this ridiculous “Metta World Peace” BS…mans name is Ron Artest.

Looking forward to the next “Ron Artest Interactive Fan Experience”. Watch out, Indiana!

MWP has matured a lot since the Ron Artest days. He used to “fight the city” during games, now he “fights for the city”.

His elbow is still embattled and ready to for war at any time.

Metta is an old school warrior and I’m happy to see, by the comments here, that he is going somewhere where he will be appreciated.
True Basketball fans know his value, and True Laker Fans hate to see him leave.

You Know He’s Nuts If He’s Talking About A Championship Ring.
    He Joined The NY Circus.
Signed Just To Stay In The Media.

I got $20 that says he beats up Poshy Boshy. And tangles with Birdman in UFC cage match. Metta went to St John University and loves NY. He’s happy to be home and will elevate his game to a higher level than in LA. And plenty of LA fans here loved his game. No more chippys for LBJ , now he gotta work for his points.Heat did lose 3 of 4 to Knicks last year. Remember ?

We are really gonna miss Meta out here in Laker Land! Just love his heart and how he handled himself and was not afraid to teach others how to live, love and laugh! One of a kind and I just Love Him!!! Thanks Ron Ron and God bless you and your family and on your new team! Davey
