The Chicago Bulls have 13 guys guaranteed on the roster, they have a couple spots they can fill if they want. They may not do so, but the space is there if a player can convince them they will help.

Dexter Pittman has given up a European contract to take a shot at one of those spots, reports Sportando.

Free agent big man Dexter Pittman turned down an offer from Italian Club Sidigas Avellino, a source told Sportando. The center will join the training camp of the Chicago Bulls hoping to get a contract for the coming season.

Pittman couldn’t crack the Heat’s rotation last year, and that was a team that could use help along the front line. He ended up with a cup of coffee in Memphis. The Bulls are deep up front, this is a hard rotation to crack.

Pittman has the size, he’s a 6’11” but he has had conditioning issues and could never just get in the rotation. Hard to see how Pittman can do that suddenly out of the Bulls, but he believes in himself.

Please dude? You never actually worked on your game. Being out of control is not a part of the fundamentals.

How do you have any idea of how much and how hard he worked on his game? You his trainer, coach, teammate? Good luck Dexter in whatever you decide to do.

The Bulls have only 12 players under guaranteed contracts for the next season. As for Pittman – I suppose that he is completely out of shape

He has good size and has good footspeed for a guy his size, which is why the Heat invested so much time in him. He dropped his weight a lot as a member of the Heat, which improved his conditioning.

However – he frequently made mistakes on his defensive rotations, despite years spent in the Heat’s defensive system. He also was extremely foul prone, even in the D-league.

The Bulls are probably just taking a look out of due diligence, and if Pittman can learn Tom Thibodeau’s system, he’d provide some nice, cheap depth at C…but I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s looking for work in the regular season.

His role this year is to be like Patty Mills.

Size, mean and all he has to do is play defense, block shots and rebound. I think this kid has is a coach that will work with him I don’t think he had any impact in Miami whereas they had to depend on him.

The ONLY thing Miami needed him to do was “play defense, block shots, and rebound.” Unfortunately, he can’t do any of those things.

He can average a foul per minute played, though.
