LeBron got a police escort to the Timberlake/Jay-Z show (VIDEO)

Aug 17, 2013, 8:00 AM EST

As Mel Brooks once wisely proclaimed, “It’s good to be the King.”

LeBron James was running late to the Jay Z/Justin Timberlake show Friday night, so he got a police escort to Sun Life Stadium.

Your tax dollars hard at work, Miami.

For the rest of us, we should make sure to allow time for traffic.

Its not even that big of a deal, he’s not even using our tax dollars, those cops are doing an off duty gig and they getpaid by the event and not us. Most likely that escost literally only probably lasted a minute or two, and I do gurantee that same courtesy would have been extended to any celebrity in that situation. But since its LeBron people are going to find a way to hate on the man for no reason.

LeBron just delivered to Miami their 2nd and 3rd championships… maybe that cop is a Heat fan. Get over it.

Good for him! Did he put his diamond up and look through it with one eye?

I’m sure LeBron’s tax dollars from his millions and millions of earnings add up to more than all of his haters and everyone in this comments section COMBINED! And guess who those tax dollars PAY? hmm, gee, I don’t know, uh, how about THE SAME POLICE OFFICERS WHO ESCORTED LEBRON. so if u think about it, that’s the city saying THANK YOU LEBRON. and plus, u haters lives would be boring without someone as successful as LeBron to hate on. so in reality, u haters owe LeBron a hand-written Thank You letter as well. And I’m not even a LeBron fan lol

Does that mean that poor people who don’t pay taxes should be dumped in a landfill or something? Because that is the flip side of your argument.

ooh! ooh! where in Liberty City? I live in the area! I’d like to “meet” the racist too! lol

As a Heat fan I am thrilled to see Miami civil servants doing their part to keep the King in town.

It’s probably the best thing my tax dollars will do for me all year.

Tax money shouldn’t be used to improve the horrible school system in Miami Dade, one of the worst in the country. Instead it should be used to escort an illiterate basketball player to a concert. Brilliant.

Key word “should”. It’s not like cops taking a break from “stakeout at the Krispy Kreme” has anything whatsoever with money going to schools.

that’s how screwed up this country is. dude can dunk a basketball… whipptie do… wow!!!! so lets use public money to make sure he can make to a concert in time.. cause man, traffic was crazy out there.

where’s the guy who took the chance for tax payers to vote on the Dolphin stadium bill at??!! this is something this guy should stand up for and not allow.

Getting escorted to his game is ok, there is lots of money and lots of jobs depending on his attendance. A concert he was late for is absurd…OHH yeah Kobe wouldn’t have needed an escort, he would have taken his helicopter
