Recently acquired Knick Andrea Bargnani is expected to play with the Italian National team at EuroBasket next month, except right now he is not with the team.

We told you a few days ago a respiratory infection has caused him to miss several tune-up games and more than a week of practice. While he hopes to be back for the Sept. 7 tournament tip off, he’s not sure he can.

You want more details? Bargnani said it was Pneumonia on twitter (in Italian). All he said in English was this.

Pneumonia is an infection of the lungs that even with treatment will take a few weeks to clear up. This has apparently dragged on a little bit, but it shouldn’t impact the Knicks at all, he’ll be fine by camp

The Knick are counting on Bargnani to space the floor and provide a little scoring punch to the bench units. Basically what the Raptors hoped Bargnani would do, but they gave up on that hope.

Kurt knocks Bargnani but praises Oden, who has not played a single minute in 3 years, was a number 1 overall pick & selected before Kevin Durant. Why is that? Because Oden is now with the Heat. How’s that for being objective & credible?

Oden is making the league minimum and his deal can end after one season, Bargs will make $23 million over the next two years. That is the difference — value for your dollar.

Trying to get better as quick as possible? You have a Pneumonia not a runny nose. I wouldn’t play at all till I was 100%

If you can catch a cold, you can catch a ball (and then shoot it and make it)

No he can’t… he’s even a worse shooter than Melo and J.R. and they are both gunners too…

Hopefully Bargnani’s immune system plays better defense than he does…otherwise he’s going to be out until mid-February.
