Top this Blake: Guy Dupuy goes between the legs over a car for dunk (VIDEO)

Jul 23, 2013, 12:56 PM EDT

We all remember Blake Griffin dunking over a car with a lob from Baron Davis out of the sunroof to win the Dunk Contest in what became the ultimate prop dunk. Even if JaVale McGee should have won that dunk contest we all remember Blake… and the Kia commercials that followed.

Except that really wasn’t all that great a dunk (I mean, better than I could ever do but compared to other dunks in that contest). It was flashy, there was a gospel choir sining in the background and everything, but it was a simple lob dunk over the hood of a car.

That video above, that is a dunk over a car.

It is Team Flight Brothers’ Guy Dupuy’s going between the legs over a car. Impressive.

Hat tip to Dan Devine at Ball Don’t Lie for finding that.

    • thetruthcampaign - Jul 23, 2013 at 2:47 PM

How many takes? Blake was live.

      • atthebuzzzer - Jul 23, 2013 at 3:42 PM

Its not any different. Car is a convertible with the top down.

    • norcalkingsfan - Jul 23, 2013 at 3:57 PM

Not any different at all. None whatsoever. Not a single noticeable difference.

      Take off your blinders bud.

Blake’s or anyone else jumping over props like cars to do basic dunks aren’t impressive….NOW what Vince Carter did – spinning mid-air, windmills ect – in his dunk contest was impressive

    • norcalkingsfan - Jul 23, 2013 at 3:58 PM

Oh vince…. how we miss you. Best NBA dunker ever. Period. Hands down. No discussion.

Lets Check who’s got a bigger Bank account this guy or Blake

    • money2long - Jul 23, 2013 at 3:49 PM

who has a bigger bank account, andris biedrins or anthony davis ? what’s your point?

      • cfutch - Jul 23, 2013 at 8:09 PM

My point is this guy can jump over a car but he can’t play ball. Jumping over a car gets you nothing but youtube fame and a pat on the back. I’m sure his Co Workers at the fast food joint he works at appreciate his jumping ability

      • money2long - Jul 23, 2013 at 9:45 PM

yea, okay i hear you. but we’re solely judging the dunk. not the guy’s game.

when you mention one’s bank account, it’s almost as if you’re mitigating his dunk. the aerial play is the focus. not his wallet nor his overall game.

Bad angle, you can’t even see if he goes thru his leg or just across his body before he dunks it. Also doesn’t jump nearly as high as Blake

  6. thetruthcampaign - Jul 23, 2013 at 2:47 PM

I don’t see anyone in the stands for this dunk.

  7. norcalkingsfan - Jul 23, 2013 at 3:50 PM

We all knew Blake was guaranteed the dunk championship that day. Blake’s dunk over the hood of a Kia was about as lame having a choir sing while you dunk. Blake choked that night and still got the trophy. The dunk contest has sucked for a while; poor judging and pointless theatrics. Anyone who wants to see cutting edge dunking doesn’t type “blake griffing jumps over car” into youtube search — they search for team flight brothers.

Lastly, as for this dunk, there is no doubt this easily trumps Blake’s car dunk.

this is insane! all you haters need to stop it, let me see one of you dunk over a car.

  9. savvybynature - Jul 23, 2013 at 10:33 PM

Blake’s dunk that year was WEAK, and the contest was obviously rigged for him to win. And I haven’t watched the dunk contest since.
I mean, if you are going to hype it as dunking over a car, you have to actually jump over a car, like this guy did. You can’t just jump over the front bumper and do an ordinary dunk and then say you dunked over a car.
