Marcus Camby clears waivers, reportedly deciding between Heat, Bulls, and Rockets

Marcus Camby cleared waivers as expected on Sunday, and is now an unrestricted free agent.

While the Rockets were reported to be the “leading contender” for Camby’s services, there are two other teams believed to still be in the running, as well.

From Chris Tomasson of Fox Sports Florida:

With Marcus Camby having cleared waivers sources said his 3 finalists are the Heat, Rockets and Bulls. He will decide in the next few days

Camby accepted a buyout from the Raptors after being traded there in the deal that sent Andrea Bargnani to the Knicks, and did so specifically to have an opportunity to play for a contender.

All three of these teams fit the bill, obviously, and Camby can be an elite presence on the boards, even at this advanced stage of his career.

Quality bigs are in short supply in the NBA, and Camby’s presence on a postseason roster, if he’s healthy and able to contribute, could turn out to be an important one in helping an elite team advance through the playoffs.

Sounds like the Rockets are looking for a replacement for Asik….they might have a deal in place to trade him

If we get Camby then we would probably trade Asik, I think the best trade is Anderson for Asik and that Is a good trade for both sides.

Let’s be real…Camby even his prime only played half the season. Whatever team this guy ends up with, he will play 5 games at best and be on the shelf the remainder of the season collecting a check!

Why are teams even thinking of signing Camby? Dude is like 47.

He is 39 years old… Maybe 1 or 2 years left in him. Best fit, Bulls.

If he really had his choice and all three teams wanted him, he’s a Heat next season. Hands down. Win a championship brah.

He barely set foot on the floor last year and teams are rushing to sign him? And even in the limited time he did see when he wasn’t injured, he was so ineffective that he got buried on the bench by Mike Woodson…I don’t see him having any impact on either of those three teams at all, or any team for that matter at this stage in his career

“Camby can be an elite presence on the boards”

    Did you really mean “elite”?
I think you meant “a lite presence on the boards”?
