Thibodeau plans to give Rose usual preseason run

Derrick Rose is 100 percent and ready to go this preseason. While Chicago takes that with a few grains of salt, Tom Thibodeau has plans to put that to the test.

He doesn’t plan to ease Rose into the preseason, he plans to play Rose regular starters minutes, Thibodeau told ESPNChicago.com.

“We’ll see once we get to training camp, and we’re going to have an opportunity to get some work done in the fall, but we have to keep in mind he’s been out an extended amount of time,” Thibodeau told ESPNChicago.com during the Vegas Summer League Thursday night. “So the preseason — and we look at training camp as the entire month, not just a week — we’ll move him along accordingly.

“He’ll play like he normally would in the preseason. Usually we start off with eight-minute segments for the starters, first and third period, and we’ll build from there. We’ll see what he can handle. I think there’s going to be some rust initially, but I fully expect him to get back to (being) the player we all know that he is.”

Of course there will be rust, which is why the idea of him coming back in the playoffs was always ridiculous. “Have fun shaking the rust off while LeBron James guards you!”

That rust is also why a preseason makes sense. Rose needs time to readjust to his teammates and them to him. Thibs is making the right call here.

Then hopefully we can see what a fully healthy Rose and the Bulls can do for a full regular season and playoffs. Which is going to make the East even more interesting this season.

Only story about Chicago I’m interested in is Pearl Jam playing Wrigley tonight. I wish I was there.

They better play him.. They need him healthy.

They don’t have a chance of beating the Heat. They should sit Rose out for the season and every other season until LBJ retires. Wouldn’t want to risk him getting hurt.

Thibs will run him to the ground again. 40 mins a game is too much. This team won without him so you better start him slow and keep him healthy for the playoffs if they want to beat Miami or Indiana

Johnnyg1021, It obviously said that he would start the preseason like he with every starter and do 8 minutes in first q and 8 minutes in third q, that is a total of 16 minutes to start not 40, he said he will go from there so it doesnt mean he couldnt only play a max of 25 minutes to start him off this preseason.

Wasn’t sold on him when he got MVP. Not sold now. He is a volume shooter. Deng and Noah mean more to the bulls then rose.

You need to learn a little more before you speak. Rose has been a driving point guard since he came in to the league, he may shoot, he get good quality shots a lot of the time, he has gotten better at shooting every season, including this coming season he has worked and gotten better, I agree Deng and Noah are valuable pieces, but they are contenders with Rose, they are not without him.

Thibs shouldn’t play Rose until he’s ready and not scared anymore.

You know how to read? He clearly said that he is 100% ready to go. If he wasn’t ready he would say it, as he as done since all star break last year when everyone wanted to rush him back.

The only thing unusual for Rose would be playing on an actual court against actual competition. How much you want a bet he cramps up when they play the Heat next.

I would bet you everything i had. That he doesnt, Imagine if Lebron tore his acl, Heat would have been swept by the pacers with ease if bulls didnt beat them. Do you remember when he had to get carried off the floor for leg cramps in the playoffs? Real tough guy.

All four of you disgust me by how little you actually know about basketball.

Don’t Get Your Hopes Up, That Boy Is Brittle, Physically & Mentally.
    As For Contenders, NOPE.
Lebron & The Heat Showed The Rest Of The NBA How To Beat The Rose Led Bulls.
Stop Rose & You Stop The Bulls.
Rose Is No Good Off The Ball Also.
Expect A Better Rose (If He Can Stay Healthy Which I Seriously Doubt) In The 2014/2015 Season.
Not a Hater, I Hope He Stays Healthy, Regains & Improves His Form. I Love The Competition.

Brilliant move to play Rose in the preseason, cause we know in the playoffs he will be absent. Get your money’s worth in the preseason.
