Report: Apparently mutual interest between DeJuan Blair, Wizards

Washington could be a playoff team in the East if they can stay healthy — John Wall started to play like everyone had hoped at the end of last season, Bradley Beal can shoot, people forget Nene is a quality big when healthy.

And for a little depth up front, how about DeJuan Blair?

It could happen, tweets the well connected Adam Zagoria.

As Wojnarowski noted at Yahoo Sports, this would need to be a sign-and-trade if it is for anything more than the minimum.

Blair is a solid backup big, even though he fell out of the Spurs rotation because Tiago Splitter was bigger and better. It wasn’t so much that Blair was terrible — in his 61 appearances last season he shot 52.4 percent and had a PER of 14.6, right about the league average — as much as other Spurs were just better. Blair did better in a larger role in previous years with the Spurs.

The Wizards have Emeka Okafor, Nene, Jan Vesely and Kevin Seraphin up front. Blair lacks the upside of some of those guys, but he’s more consistent. This could be a good fit if the price is reasonable.

Not the Bucks but Wizards have Okafor, Nenê, Vesely and Seraphin.

      Fixed already. Thanks.

    Wizards, not bucks.

That’s Kurt’s level of editing, per par.

Why pay an editor when the commenters do it free?

    Typical Durt.

If thw Wiz can’t lock up Wall, they should trade him for Greg Monroe and Brandon Knight in a sign and trade.

not sure why they need blair, trevor booker is essentially the same player AND he has ligaments in his knees

DeJuan Blair seems to be one of those players who is criminally OVERrated almost every year in NBA 2K.

He must have had some potential somewhere along the line, but if the SPURS can’t find it, then i’m not sure any other team can.

As a Wizards fan, I’mma have to respectfully disagree with signing DeJuan Blair. We have too many undersized centers/power forwards as it is.

We need another legit 7 footer or hell, at least 6’10. Also, injuries killed the team last year so it doesn’t make sense to bring in another guy who is injury prone (no ACLs).

I like his game and I think he will be an upgrade over whoever we have on our bench but that isn’t saying much. If we can somehow pry DeMarcus Cousins or LaMarcus Aldridge away from their respective teams without giving up Wall, Beal, or Porter I would be more than happy.

I don’t see how he fits in on our team when we have at least 3 players who r just like him.

I see Dejuan Blair being a good fit with the Wizards, now they just need to trade the other big men that are just taking up bench seats.

Trading wall for Greg Monroe and who ever may be the dumbest thing the Wiz can do. Wall is still on the up tick where Monroe is at his ceiling. They are not a better team after that deal. What’s even funnier about signing Blair is that Wiz twice traded back in that draft and could have still drafted him instead of trading the pick for cash and future consideration. In ERIE WE TRUST…..
