Jrue Holiday-Nerlens Noel trade now official

Jul 13, 2013, 8:00 AM EDT

Toney Douglas, Jrue Holiday AP

Congratulations, Jrue Holiday.

Fresh off marrying U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team member Lauren Cheney (now Lauren Holiday) – and the subsequent honeymoon that delayed his trade from becoming official – Jrue Holiday is now a husband and Pelican. The trade, which sends Nerlens Noel and a future first-round pick to the 76ers, hinged on Holiday completing a physical, which couldn’t do until after his honeymoon.

But Holiday returned and passed his physical, and now the trade is official.

Holiday gives New Orleans its first player with All-Star experience since Chris Paul and David West. Holiday won’t be Paul good, but he’ll give the franchise a fresh and marketable face to go with its new nickname.

The 76ers will also get their fresh start with Noel and this other first-round pick, but that’s going to take quite a while longer.

Holiday is only 23 I believe, so he may be as good as Paul pretty soon. Maybe not this year but it’s not like Chris Paul is Magic Johnson. Jrue I think has a better shot than him. And he isnt too far away when it comes to assisting. He must work on his turnovers though. I love Jrue with the Sixers and wish him luck with NO.

coach monty williams said with the new acquisitions in NO, people seem to be forgetting about anthony davis. he’s right. ant davis is very good and will have a great season barring injury.

This could be a win-win trade, which doesn’t happen often. I think this young core that NO has put together is very interesting. I think as they grow together, they could be a very good team. They are going to need to add more if they ever want to be title contenders, but that can be done once the young guys develop and get used to each other. I don’t think they make the playoffs this year, I think they finish 9-11 in the conference, and miss out by a few games, but down the line, this team has a lot of young talent

For Philly, this trade puts them back at square 1, but with an elite level talent in the middle, what is almost guaranteed to be a top 5 pick in a very strong draft next year, what I think will be a 10-14 pick from NO, and enough cap space to sign 2 max level FA’s (Who they can attract with that group of young talent, and Thad Young coming off the bench). Obviously this will depend on how Noel bounces back from his injury (early indications are good), how Carter-Williams developes (more as a floor leader and defender than as a scorer), and how both teams finish next year to determine picks (then the lotto ball dreams), but with some luck, 12 months from now, the Sixers could be the team everyone is talking about as the next “it” team

I like what the Pelicans are doing. I wouldn’t be shocked if they make the playoffs. They will need much more to challenge though.
The Sixers are finally showing some direction but they have a loong way to go.
It will be fun following both teams.

She’s actually really cute, but in an everyday hottie sort of way. Girl next door type. Not the jaw dropping, Hollywood leading vixen like most players get. Which is good, the hotter the chick, the more drama…in some instances. Click open HBT and read the story about Anna Benson breaking into ex-husband Kris Benson’s house with a bulletpoof vest on, a club and a gun and went after dude. It was a July 8th article.
