The Clippers look like a deep team that just keeps getting deeper. You know that puts a smile on Doc Rivers face.

Matt Barnes is going to return to the Clippers with a three-year, $11-12 million deal (total), reports Marc Spears at Yahoo Sports.

Barnes averaged 10.6 points a game in just less than 26 minutes a game for the Clippers last season. Barnes is dangerous in transition and in an up-tempo game, but is less of a threat in the half-court as he shot 34.2 percent from three (below the league average) and 37.5 percent from the midrange.

However, he can defend and has an all-around game that has value off the bench in a limited role. Which is what he will have with the Clippers backing up Jared Dudley (who is a bigger, better jack-of-all-trades kind of player).

This is a solid pickup for the clippers at a fair price.

LOL 11 million a season. Clippers and Sterling at their best.

That’s the total value of the contract, not the per year average.

No articles about the insanity that Golden State is doing? Looks like they might be the Dwight winners.

I think they meant the deal was overall 11-12 million ji8888 … Barnes is great spark of the bench, but will never see that type of pay.. especially with Blake making 16mil and DeAndre makin a hair short of 11mil himself… Come on man! LOL!

I think Barnes fits the Clips perfectly and it’s great he will be back. Bledsoe was a big reason the Clips bench was good last year, but Barnes was (arguably) just as important. He brings D and great energy.

4 mil a year for a player this good is a steal. Barnes was not only one of the better Clippers last year, but he was stone, cold, MONEY in the playoffs last season. He was a tremendous bright spot in their brief playoff run last year.

I like Matt Barnes, but nearly $4 million a year is too pricey IMO. Hope that he can at least keep last year’s production.

I think this is great news . The Clippers have a solid bench and the additions of Dudley and J.J. Reddick make the Clippers one tough hombre amigo ! DeAndre Jordan remains the big question mark . Will he play to his potential or fade when the going gets tough . I expect answers and decisions from Doc Rivers even before the season starts .
