Manu Ginobili reaches two-year deal to stay with Spurs

Jul 3, 2013, 11:53 AM EST

Did you really expect any other outcome?

This is a two-year deal worth $14 million total reports Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports. That is a half his salary of last season.

At what will be age 36 next season, we can continue to expect less production by the Argentinian legend, we can expect his role to shrink (much of that slack picked up by Kawhi Leonard).

But Ginobili was never going anywhere.

He is a big part of what the Spurs do and for two more seasons you can expect Manu and Tim Duncan and Tony Parker to be underestimated yet show up with unequaled execution every night. They made it all the way to the NBA Finals after having the second best regular season record in the league last season, you thought they would break this up?

Ginobili scored 11.8 points a game last season, his lowest average since his rookie year, and he shot just 42.5 percent. He also sat out 22 games, some due to injury and some so he could rest. You saw him struggle at points in the Finals against the athletic and aggressive defense of the Heat.

But he still can make clever passes and he can still have games like Game 5 of the Finals, when he had 24 points and 10 assists to get the Spurs a key win.
