Doc Rivers talks exit from Celtics, Rondo, new look Nets (VIDEO)

Jun 28, 2013, 3:29 PM EDT

It became one of the talking points of the NBA Draft broadcast — ESPN’s Bill Simmons (a Celtics fan) said Doc Rivers quit on Boston, so when Rivers was asked about that on the broadcast his response was, “I would like to call him an idiot but I’m too classy for that.”

Rivers was on the Dan Patrick Show Friday and talked about his exit from the Celtics, which frankly sounded pretty mutual according to every credible report out there. Of course, not everyone will always see it that way.

Rivers also talks his relationship with Rajon Rondo, the one he is trying to build with Chris Paul, and the new look Nets with some of his former players.

I wonder which game will be more awkward Celtics vs Clippers or Celtics vs Nets.

  3. bigwii - Jun 28, 2013 at 4:06 PM

    Or Clippers vs Nets.

Here’s an example of Doc Rivers constantly contradicting his story over the last few weeks. What a disaster he made of his departure.

Not sure why Doc has a stick up his a$$ about Bill Simmons comment. Clearly Doc initiated the talks with the Clippers, not Danny Ainge.

Doc could not speak to the Clippers without Celtics approval, he was under contract.

Bill Simmons is such a whiny little b!#ch.. complains about everything..

    First class quitter.

Way to just bail on your team, you screwed the celtics for a few years at least

be a man and own it doc…call his ass an idiot

  9. thebigtim2012 - Jun 28, 2013 at 9:54 PM

All doc had to say is they want to lose for a few seasons and I’m not willing to go along for the ride. Instead he blows up his image in Boston.

Rivers shouldn’t have signed a seven year deal if he had no intention of going through a rebuild. Yes, he quit. Deflecting attention to Bill Simmons won’t hide that fact either. Danny Ainge was betrayed, pure and simple.

Lets see if Doc Rivers “quit” on the Celtics?? will I still watch Clippers basketball games next year??? Hell freakin YES!!!! That’s their problem I’m just a basketball fan.

Who cares if he quit. He wants rings and its not gonna happen in Boston anymore
