Allen Iverson’s children back with wife, judge agrees he didn’t kidnap them

Jun 18, 2013, 9:54 AM EDT

Allen Iverson

As a parent, I read these stories and I cringe for the children. They are being used as pawns in the parents’ fights.

Yesterday we told you how Allen Iverson’s ex-wife filed court documents that Iverson had kidnapped his children.

Those children are now back with his wife and Iverson told the judge he never kidnapped them and that his wife is full of… it.

Of course, it’s TMZ with the story.

Former NBA superstar Allen Iverson has returned his kids to their mother … and insists he was NEVER holding them hostage in the first place … at least that’s what A.I. claimed in court last week. …

Allen appeared in Fulton County court in Georgia last Wednesday and told the judge his ex-wife had full access to their kids during their stay at the hotel … and therefore he wasn’t doing anything wrong. We’re told Tawanna also testified that she could have picked up the children from Allen but didn’t want to drive 45 minutes to his location.

After A.I.’s testimony, the judge decided the former Philadelphia 76ers star didn’t deserve to be thrown in jail — despite his ex-wife’s request before the hearing.

As I said, I feel for the children here. But at least they are physically safe.

I hope people stop jumping to conclusions in every story. It’s like people always believe whoever throws the first allegation. Unless you’re one of the people directly involved, you’ll likely never know the full truth so it’s best not to speculate. People were absolutely annihilating Iverson in the news yesterday.

so happy to hear this side of the story.

i knew something wasn’t right. i don’t wanna say i know a lot about the real A.I. off the court, as in, how he thinks or conducts himself or his philosophies on life, but kidnapping children for me, definitely felt out of the realm of possibilities for iverson to do. sounded like his ex was acting petty if she had access to the kids and knew their whereabouts. why did she then have to throw out iverson was an alcoholic ? to make him look bad so people can side with her? if she was that concerned about the children’s safety, and believed his alcoholism was a threat in the presence of the kids, why didn’t she drive the said, 45 minutes to “rescue” them ?

so now, instead of finding moderate ground, it seems you may want to lean heavily the other way? Both of them strike me as self-centered and ignorant, wanting what’s best for them and not the kids. I’m sure Iverson isn’t 100% blame free in this situation and vice versa.

I disagree. We should all take every opportunity to vent our frustrations and project our insecurities onto people we don’t know. Bonus points for using the thinly veiled “thug” and making baseless comparisons to how things used to be better.

Of course, I hope it goes without saying that we should do all of the above as hastily as possible, with neither consideration, nor forethought.

Some people think this is a basketball game where you
call timeouts and get a halftime break, The reality is all
we know about AI is he had corn rows, tattoos and a killer
cross over that nearly broke Jordan’s ankles. I rather
the children with their mom, AI’S life is spinning out of
control by all reports. I wish him ,the wife and kids the best.

Very wrong sir. What you state is NOT ALL we know about this wannabe gangsta.
Phila police & handguns were a large part of his Phila legacy not long ago. He deserves no sympathy nor respect. He’s a thug.

I hope they get it together…for the sake of the children.

    .

An example of ” America’s Filthy Little Secret ” : that our family court system is an abject disgrace.

The system is designed to enrich lawyers and destroy families.

I love it when an egotistical thug like Allen Iverson falls on hard times. Here’s hoping the hard times continue for the rest of his life.

    • paleihe - Jun 18, 2013 at 11:54 AM

      How is Iverson a “thug?”

      • dangernearing - Jun 18, 2013 at 12:03 PM

    • circuscivics - Jun 18, 2013 at 12:25 PM

You sound like you have a sad pathetic life wishing hard times on another man that you don’t know. You need to look in the mirror and really self-reflect.

    • emosnar - Jun 18, 2013 at 1:02 PM

All those folks who are hating on Iverson might want to give a little thought to his Nike shoe endorsement deal. In 2030 when he’s 55 he’ll have access to $30,000,000.00. How many of you haters have a 401K program like that waiting for you when you reach 55?

And should he die like so many of you are expecting his children will rap the benefits. So keep on hating!

  5. bloodisred - Jun 18, 2013 at 12:50 PM

So will all the folks that jumped to conclusions recant their incredibly negative comments? Not likely. It’s ok to anonymously bash people they actually know nothing about personally.

    • mydoghasfleez - Jun 19, 2013 at 10:04 AM

“Know nothing about”? Bullcrap – he’s been a disgusting citizen since he entered the Phila scene. YOU are the one who comments on things that you know nothing about.

      • bloodisred - Jun 26, 2013 at 12:10 PM

Days later I realize but seriously? So you know Iverson personally? You and your comments are a joke — check your ratings!

  6. hatesycophants - Jun 18, 2013 at 4:21 PM

You feel for the children because you and other media scum delight in hero worship/destruction? Let’s hear the details of your personal life as it relates to your offspring. I didn’t think so.
