Metta World Peace says Howard isn’t going anywhere because he has a hold on his… um… those

Dwight Howard, Metta World Peace AP

Metta World Peace was in rare form today.

He was on Sportsradio 610 in Houston — and let me say as a guy who has done a fair amount of radio spots with some quality hosts there, the buzz is all about Dwight Howard coming to the Rockets. If they are talking hoops, they are talking Howard.

So you know what they asked World Peace, and his response was… vintage. Via Howard Chen at CSNHouston.com.

When asked about the Lakers center who is about to be a free agent, World Peace said, “Well, he’s not going to Houston, I tell you that.

“You know how those horses have those little things, ties in a bullfight, you tie those things to their balls and they go crazy? I’ve got two of those tied to Dwight Howard’s testicles, so he can’t move.”

After massive laughter, Sportsradio 610’s Mike Meltser asked, “So you think Dwight is definitely staying in LA?”

“He can’t move,” World Peace answered. “If he does, it’ll be painful. So he can’t go nowhere.”

Later, MWP was a little more serious.

“I’m not going to try to convince him,” World Peace said. “But definitely, I enjoy him, no question about it. I’ll leave the convincing to the organization and to the fans. But for myself, I’m just working out and things like that, but I definitely enjoy him. He’s a great person. Whoever receives Dwight Howard, they’ll really enjoy their time with him. Hopefully, it’s with the Lakers, but whoever receives him will really enjoy their time.”

Dwight Howard becomes a free agent on July 1 and the incumbent Lakers and Rockets are considered by most the two favorites to get his services (take those Clippers rumors with a grain of salt, that is that the Clips are considering offering it, that is different than the Lakers going for it).

World Peace is great. He’s turned himself around, for the most part at least.

MWP is old, brittle and not worth half the 7.7 million LA will be paying him next year.

      • paleihe - Jun 18, 2013 at 11:58 AM

I don’t think you know what brittle means.

Time for another rap album, Ron.

Maybe not a whole album, but ‘champions’ is my jam.

mwp would be great if he wasn’t mwp.

If you’re on twitter and not following MWP you’re doing it wrong.

Heats fans are not in stock. Meaning , the spurs were heat fans cooling off Miami. But not Miami is riding horses thru Texas like “bammm!!”

Wade stands for We Are defending Something

  5. 13arod - Jun 17, 2013 at 10:05 PM

Hope bosh gets traded to bobcats so heat can sign Howard

    • melkipershero - Jun 17, 2013 at 10:33 PM

The Heat still wouldn’t have enough cap space to sign Dwight. They’d have to amnesty Wade for that to work, and that’s not happening.

      • fventricle - Jun 17, 2013 at 11:02 PM

Why not? I’d rather have Howard over Wade any day…Wade is in the decline, hes got 2 years top as a superstar..well hes not even a superstar, hes a star now…for the 20 million they give to Wade they could pick up so much better talent even if it’s not Howard

  6. kb2408 - Jun 17, 2013 at 10:14 PM

@13arod, yeah, then maybe LeBron can win another ring, because by the looks of it he won’t be winning one this season!

    • melkipershero - Jun 17, 2013 at 10:35 PM

Spurs are 14-2 in close out games on the road since 02-03. The Heat haven’t lost after a loss this post season winning by an average of 20 + points a game. Should be interesting. The Lakers were in the same position a few years back, so never say never.

Either way Dwight isn’t going to Miami so the point is moot.

Say Howard goes to Houston. I could see Attest making a return there as well. He seemed to be well liked during those few years. Man if only Yao and Tracy could’ve stayed healthy.

    • thekingdave - Jun 18, 2013 at 12:16 PM

Artest was a Rocket for one season

      • patfic15 - Jun 19, 2013 at 7:42 PM

And was well received that year as well…..but thanks anyway.

Two more weeks until July 1st, then Jim can make a couple moves to further recover from the damage of his early mistakes as owner. And then a couple more moves the summer after that, until he wipes the slate clean with #16 and truly finds redemption with #17.

  9. kanemoney - Jun 18, 2013 at 2:37 AM

MWP would not be a Laker right now if contracts were not guaranteed.

  10. 1509lucky - Jun 18, 2013 at 12:33 PM

We need more Metta. Most entertaining interview since Barkley.
