Jason Terry says knee pain forced him to be cautious this season

The Jason Terry that the Boston Celtics got last season was not the one they thought they had signed.

He shot basically the same percentages as he had the season before (43.4 percent overall, 37.2 percent from three) but he shot a lot less, five fewer times per game than he did in Dallas (and even per 36 minutes he shot four fewer shots).

Terry played hesitant this season, he was not the gunner that was key to the Mavericks title run a couple years ago. He told the Boston Herald the issue was his knee, which was inflamed throughout the season and a constant issue.

“I felt it all season,” he said. “I finally had to alleviate the discomfort.

“It definitely inhibited me a lot,” said Terry. “I was limited. I hadn’t really been in that position before, playing under that kind of condition. I don’t know ultimately how much it limited me, but I was definitely cautious with the way I was playing.”

A couple weeks ago Terry had his knee scoped out, he should be healthy and ready to go next season at age 36.

Of course, what the team around him will look like in Boston next season is still very much up in the air.
