PBT Extra: Do Heat or Spurs have the momentum heading into Game 3?

Jun 11, 2013, 1:04 PM EDT

Kay Adams hit me with just one question: Who has the momentum heading into Game 3 of the NBA Finals Tuesday night, the Heat or the Spurs?

But there is no simple answer. We saw the Heat dominate the end of Game 2, but they have not been able to sustain that level of play throughout the playoffs. The Spurs head back home but they have some serious questions to answer about the LeBron James/Mario Chalmers pick-and-roll.

The only outcome that would surprise me tonight is another blowout. I expect a close one.

All the momentum is on MIA side and my boy MIKE MILLLLAH…….Manu needs to show up tonight if they want to win.

Although LeBron has had big impact in both games despite not scoring much, on the road he will need to put up much more points …. Pop is not going to allow the 3 point line to abuse them again so LeBron is going to have to get in the paint more and finish.

Chalmers vs Parker will be HUGE all series.

I agree with what you’re saying, but I don’t think Popovich can afford to concentrate too much on the shooters. He can’t leave Leonard (or whoever) on an island with James. The help has to continue to try and keep James out of the lane.

So what is Pop going to do? It’s either continue to give help on Lebron or let the shooters continue to get good looks. San Antonio’s defense is good, but not good enough where they can take away everything the Heat are trying to do. Its pick your poison with the Heat.

Exactly last time i checked 3 pointers are worth more than 2.

and the HEAT are far more capable 3 point shooters than people who can score in paint consistently.

If Mia shooters are hitting the Spurs don’t have a chance. They can’t pack the paint and stop the shooters. Mia has dominated both games, besides for a 6min stretch in the 4th of game 1.

It’s interesting to see that Mia best lineup is without Wade right now. Because he does not stretch the floor or close out on shooters. Most of Green’s treys come on Wade’s lazy defense. Hard to admit as a Wade fan.

Spurs are gonna have to do better than 88ppg to win the series.

You have to pick your poison with the heat. You cant stop lebron in the paint and guard the three.
