It wasn’t a total surprise that Jason Kidd decided to hang up his shoes and retire from the NBA. He wasn’t young.

However you had to know Kidd’s announcement would draw a lot of reaction from around the NBA as he is one of the most respected players in the league. After 19 years, he’s a guy a lot of players grew up watching.

Players — from former teammates to just fans — went to twitter to react.

It’s crazy to me that Jason Kidd and Grant Hill are retired after 19 years, and that Kevin Garnett, Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash and Tim Duncan are getting up there at 15-17 years. I still remember them as up and coming “young guns” when they were just getting started!

Kidd lost my respect last year when he had a verbal agreement with the Mavs only to bolt. Same with fisher. Although he lost it long ago

      I’m sure Kidd is devastated.

That 1994 draft of Big Dog, Grant Hill, and Jason Kidd. That was a good draft.

I haven’t double checked this yet but I’m pretty sure with Hill and Kidd retiring there are no more active players left from NBA Jam.
