To quote the great Wayne Gretzky, “You miss 100 percent of the shots you don’t take.”

Nicole Muxo took a shot.

The high school senior at Archbishop Coleman Carroll put a video on YouTube asking Dwyane Wade to be her date for her senior prom.

Friday night, he showed up, reports

Muxo, who attends Archbishop Coleman Carroll High School in West Kendall, had told NBC 6 South Florida she asked out Wade because he’s her favorite player and because he’s a positive role model for a lot of people.

Wade did not wear one of his frightening jackets, but rather looked fashionable in a tux and took pictures with Muxo and her friends. He did not go the full Andrew Bynumthere were no images of him dancing on his bad knee. Of course, the Heat are off until next Wednesday, so he had some time to recover from his night out, which he tweeted about.

I like this story. We’re going to assume Wade cleared this with girlfriend Gabrielle Union, first. That or he better have a comfortable couch to sleep on.

WoW (Kurt) that last line sound like you are trying to call D.Wade a child molester, most likely the young women is 16 or 17 most girls graduate at that age!!!

    • Kurt Helin - May 18, 2013 at 1:38 PM

I don’t think it reads that way, it reads as a joke.

Honestly, if your first thought was Wade was trying to nail a high school girl the problem is with you. Not Wade.

SMH Then why would he have to clear taking a fan to the prom with his wife?

      • loungefly74 - May 20, 2013 at 7:45 AM

goraidersgospurs – you missed the joke completely…it went above your head, dude. why would he not clear it with his wife. i think that is something you definitely do. SMH….

So he just took a random little girl to a dance? Don’t sports stars usually go to visit kids dying at the hospital. Not really sure how this makes wade a good person. Closer to creepy if you ask me

Much respect to wade for doing that. That will be memories for a long time for that precious girl and her friends. Classy move on wades part.

funny. I thought it was little boys he was preying on? Interesting how no heat fan talks about that disturbing story. Even more interesting how he payed for it to go away.

      • ProBasketballPundit - May 19, 2013 at 11:26 AM

Heat fans don’t talk about it because charges were never filed you dolt. No reason to talk about nothing.

I am truly a HUGE Dwayne Wade fan. I am not surprised at this act of kindness because that’s who he is. I just wish he was playing when I was a senior. lol. So happy for this young lady’s dream coming true and so proud of Dwayne for making it happen considering his present condition. This just made me love him move! Team#Dwadealldayeveryday!!!!

You’re “truly a HUGE Dwayne Wade fan.”?

The bandwagoners are very sensitive. Much like Bosh Spice, very soft & cry often.

I’d let her dunk my ball…

  13. marcos989 - May 18, 2013 at 1:55 PM

Why are adults allowed in to a high school dance?

  14. grouchyfogie2 - May 18, 2013 at 2:49 PM

Geesh, People~! Can’t a person do a good deed for another who admires them, in this case Nicole admiring Dwayne, without it going all sexual innuendo???
I am ashamed of much of the human species. And some of the comments here are the exact reason why. People need to be respected as People, and not as sexual objects, by either gender~!
And I’ve NEVER seen a Lady, of ANY age, who didn’t choose to look her best at a super occasion.
Grow up, People, and gain some maturity~!

These are the stories that make me respect these athletes!

  16. nobandwagonridersallowed - May 18, 2013 at 4:57 PM

Some of the comments that are left on these threads makes 1 thing for certain; and that is this world is not at a shortage of morons, a$$holes and losers!

Good job, D-Wade for creating a happy memory that will last a lifetime for those involved

  17. ambitoos - May 18, 2013 at 9:27 PM

    Classy act Mr. Wade.

  18. phoenix - May 19, 2013 at 2:53 PM

Good for both. She was brave enough and Dwayne……classy response. ps…..all you sicko jerks out there, crawl back under your rocks.
