Poetry corner at PBT: “Where are you Derrick Rose?”

May 15, 2013, 5:48 PM EDT

As the Bulls get eliminated from the playoffs Wednesday night (sorry Bulls fans, but you know it’s coming), we bring you this bit of poetry — in a video form. Because we know you’re not actually going to read poetry. You hated it in high school/college and you’re not going start reading it now. Not even “Address to a Haggis” by Robert Burns.

Fantastic creation by Jerk Jerkson.

Thanks to the brilliant men at The Basketball Jones for finding this.

    A Haiku for Bulls fans:

    Even if Rose played
You would not have beat the heat
    Lebron will win again

8 minutes gone in the 1st quarter and the Bulls are already out of game 5. Thibs show the flag and clear the bench before somebody gets hurt. The NBA should pay everyone who watches all 48 minutes of this game and please do not repeat the Nate commercial.

You’re talking like you have money riding on this game, Kurt

Bulls still have a chance to win the tech foul battle.

As I watch him warm up before the game,
    Shooting, dunking, free of pain
I have to wonder what has changed..
What’s the problem with his brain?

    Apparently, it’s not his knee.
He can run and jump effectively.
Than honestly what can it be?
    He’s just not there cerebrally.

      what’s with all this rhyming
      sublime, thou art for trying
      no derrick rose whining but,
      signs of, knowing the timing,
of his return for burn on the court
you yearn, for no.1 to turn the corner.
return from a goner. honor thy city.
giddy from rumors, humor me silly.
what do i know. i don’t see thru d-rose goggles
but i know he loves his city
      the one he calls chicago

The problem with Derrick Rose’s image among some NBA fans stems from all the hype. No one doubts that this guy wasn’t really injured when it all went down but then someone got the “brilliant” to market his comeback.

And for all those commercials and hype it never materialized to anything. I wish him well both physically and maybe mentally as well.
