Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau fined $35K for comments made after Game 3 loss to Heat

Chicago Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau has been fined $35,000 for comments he made about the officiating following his team’s Game 3 loss to the Heat, the lague announced on Sunday via official release.

And really, this wasn’t a question of “if,” but more a question of “when” and “how much.”

Thibodeau ripped the officiating during his postgame press conference, stating among other things that he knows his team won’t get calls against Miami, and that the play that saw Nazr Mohammed get ejected for his shove of LeBron James was a flop by James more than anything else.

“From my angle, I just saw a guy basically flop, you know, and I’m going to leave it at that,” Thibodeau said. “When you play them, you have to have a lot of mental, physical and emotional toughness. And things aren’t going to go your way. That’s the way it is. We’re not going to get calls. That’s reality. We still have to find a way to get it done. And we can.”

NBA head coaches will gladly take the fine if their comments have even a small impact on the way the officials might call things a little differently in the next game of the series.

Game 4 between the Bulls and the Heat is Monday night in Chicago.
