Nate Robinson owns the clutch vs. Heat (VIDEO)

May 7, 2013, 2:09 AM EDT

If you only watch the end of playoff games, you’ll want to know why Nate Robinson isn’t an All-Star and getting MVP votes.

The wild swings that can be Robinson never shake his confidence, and so when the game is on the line against the Miami Heat in the playoffs he can make plays. Big plays. Like the game winners above that put the Bulls up 1-0.

One game does not a series make, but the Bulls have made a statement. Part of that is that they are going to be in this series, and when it gets tight late they have a guy they trust to make play. Not the former MVP wearing a suit on the sidelines, rather it is Robinson. Who just plays like that guy in spurts.

What comes around , goes around. All the Heat fans that were dissing my Knicks about losing to the Pacers got bit by a Nat ( I mean a Nate). Welcome to a nasty tough 7 game series. Hope Deng comes back to launch some 3 s and Henrich comes back to help on defense.Bosh got destroyed by Noah. Better play Birdman all game

They’re aweful quiet today. Typical cowardly bandwagoners.

some Heat fans was talking sweep, did they mean the Heat would be swept?
omg, no 16-0 for the MVP.

the boyz from Chi Town are bad ass.

I told you it could be Knickerbockers vs Chi-Town in the ECF

Are we going to have to have this discussion all over again? About why Lebron isn’t attacking the basket at the end of playoff games?

In the final 6 minutes Lebron only took 2 shots – both missed jumpers – while the Heat were outscored by 12 points

LeBron had one good end-of-playoffs ever. Go check it out. He’s melted down for large chunks of final series each year except one – last year. This certainly wouldn’t be anything new, but I also think he did learn what to do last year and that he will play much smarter based on what’s needed at the time than we saw tonight.

somebody fact check me on this, but I just dont see Mj and Scottie letting a team missing 3 of it’s key players waltz in and steal game one at home….wtf Miami, did you not watch the Nets series? Or can you just turn it on when you want to? Go Bulls!

  4. halfbaht - May 7, 2013 at 2:49 AM

Nasty Nate strikes again! Suck it Heat fans, Chi-Town v Pacers for the ECF!

  5. lakerade - May 7, 2013 at 2:53 AM

Impressive how mentally strong the Bulls players are: no shrinking from pressure, no inflated ego from success, just making the plays and moving onto the next. Does this game 1 theft change the chances of DRose coming back?

  6. badintent - May 7, 2013 at 3:14 AM

Betcha the Cs are watching Nate go nuclear and thinking.”Didn’t that dude play for us last year ?” What was Danny GM thinking ? Or was he thinking at all ? The critcs are divided on Danny having a brain to think with.

One of the more interesting results of this season will be Nate Robinson’s new contract. Does he have to sign for the minimum again b/c of his horrible defense or does some team give him a few million per year for someone who can score (and miss) in bunches?

    • pudgalvin - May 7, 2013 at 7:48 AM

Totally agree. Everything I’ve heard is that he really loves playing in Chicago, but next year they’re going to have Rose, Hinrich and Teague at the point. Can they pay him to be a unconventional two of the bench? I think some team is going to pony up and pay him though, I have a hard time seeing him back with the Bulls; they’re probably going to chose Bellinelli.

      • chicitybulls - May 7, 2013 at 11:33 AM

I’m not so sure about that. I think the way Belinelli has played that he has probably earned himself a bigger contract and a chance to start elsewhere. I think the Bulls have their starting 2 guard in Jimmy Butler. He’s earned it. He plays better defense than Marco while giving almost as much offensively. And I think he’ll improve offensively this off-season. I watched him in summer league last year and he played great. Belinelli plays better as a starter but I think the Bulls should go with Jimmy as the starter. A starting 5 next year of Rose, Butler, Deng, Boozer and Noah is as good a starting 5 on both sides of the ball as any in the league (even with Boozer and his lack of defense, which he makes up for with rebounding).

      JJ Barea

Sure they are not the same type of player (other than height), but some team will be impressed with Robinson’s postseason and pounce on him like the TWolves did with Barea.

  8. cantonbound13 - May 7, 2013 at 6:47 AM

What happened to the self proclaimed top 10 pg in the league? He got toasted by little Nate. What happened to the “MVP”? Choked again!

  9. gmsingh - May 7, 2013 at 7:59 AM

Here’s what’s so ironic: the complete chaos the Heat create when they’re playing their best defense is where Nate thrives. By the end of the game the Heat literally had no chance against him.

  10. deeballer - May 7, 2013 at 8:10 AM

Nate does own the Heat whenever they play. I hate watching the Heat play against the Bulls. I know that the Heat have better talent, but the Bulls get more out of their players. Bottom line is that the Bulls made more open shots than the Heat did. The Heat had plenty of looks, but they just missed them. The Bulls and the Celtics are the teams that give the Heat the most trouble. This is going to be a good series, but the Heat better wake up from that long break quick.

  11. ch8878 - May 7, 2013 at 1:44 PM

Looks like Lebron’s time in Miami is coming to an end, he’ll either be back in Cleveland or go to Dallas.

    • deeballer - May 7, 2013 at 3:14 PM

And someone made you clairvoyant because of 1 playoff game? Go take a long walk off a short pier.

    • badintent - May 11, 2013 at 3:29 AM

Go to Dallas ? FUNNY ! PBT QUOTE OF THE WEEK !!!
