Charles Barkley: “Of course” I played with a gay teammate

Jason Collins made big news as the first active NBA player to come out of the closet as a gay man.

But if you think he’s the first gay NBA player — or the first gay player that most NBA players have had on their team at some level — you are naive.

Charles Barkley owned up to that on the Dan Patrick Show Tuesday and said it’s no big deal. He sounds like the majority of NBA players I have heard from on this issue, they just want to know if he can play.

As long as the dude doesn’t try ramming u in the hole while in the showers, who cares?

Pathetic response. Go look at yourself in the mirror, fool.

    • asimonetti88 - May 7, 2013 at 6:22 PM

I should probably note that was sarcastic.

You do know there is a difference between being gay and being a rapist, right? Or are you just that dumb?

      • asimonetti88 - May 7, 2013 at 10:11 PM

It was a sarcastic reply meant to make fun of people like fnc. Their only “argument” for not having gays in sports is that they “couldn’t control” themselves in the locker rooms.

I forgot to add to it.

I forgot to add /sarcasm to it.

I was just paraphrasing/making fun of the ridiculous arguments I see from anti-gay bigots on a frighteningly regular basis.

    Best headline ever.

I remember a quote from a baseball player about a decade ago whom I can’t remember who to attribute the quote to which is pretty much one of my favorite quotes of all time. When asked how he’d feel about playing with a gay teammate he said, “I’m assuming I already have.” Brilliant.

Yeah….laugh every time I see it….wonder if he wishes he had that one back….just sayin.

Did you enjoy “playing” with him, Charles?

not a fan of Barkley but he has a point it really doesn’t mean anything for a team to have a gay player i don’t understand why people have to make a big deal of a player being gay
