LeBron James to wear MVP edition of his LeBron X from Nike in Game 1 vs. Bulls (PHOTOS)

May 6, 2013, 7:12 PM EDT

Nike Basketball has celebrated LeBron James winning his fourth career Most Valuable Player award by hooking him up with a special and very colorful MVP edition of his signature shoe, the LeBron X.

From the official release:

“The vibrant LEBRON X MVP shoe fuses the unique colorways and designs of each style in the LEBRON X  series, which James debuted in August 2012. The design details, including MVP on the shoe tongue, weave the story of James’s incredible journey over the past year. It’s a path that has seen him striving for excellence by perfecting his shooting efficiency, assists and rebounds to cut through defense effectively as an individual and as a team. Along the way, James has traveled from the courts of London to the hardwood arena of Miami, achieving victory in an extraordinary 27-game winning streak.”

The idea of combining pieces of every colorway and pattern of a given athlete’s signature line isn’t a new one for Nike; they’ve done it in recent years with models like this one that go by the name “What the LeBron.” The execution on these ones appears to be among the best yet.

    wow are those ugly

    • goraidersgospurs - May 6, 2013 at 7:20 PM

And yet they can be yours for about $180!!!

    • melkipershero - May 6, 2013 at 7:32 PM

Basd on what I have seen from these guys attires, ugly must be in.

    • money2long - May 6, 2013 at 7:36 PM

looks like a “fresh prince of bel air” style design. with people bringing back 80s fashion with jean jackets n skinny jeans, these will be purchased.

    • andrewproughcfe - May 6, 2013 at 10:22 PM

Not as ugly as the last two.minutes of that game. King Choke – chokes again.

      • melkipershero - May 6, 2013 at 10:32 PM

Really? Youre putting this on Lebron? A true hater if Ive seen one. Wade taking that 3 was the game. You could hear the crowd literally quit. Btw, Heat fans leaving that early is SO sad. Horrible fans.

      • andrewproughcfe - May 6, 2013 at 11:36 PM

So, when the Heat were outscored 10-0 in the final 2 minutes, and Lebron went 0-2 and passed up numerous opportunities while his team only got off 5 shots – you mean that had nothing to do with Lebron choking?

Want to compare his final two minutes to those of Nate Robinson, who personally scored the final 7 points of the game, drew two fouls, and assisted on a Belinelli 3-pointer?

Who was clutch, and who choked?

      • andrewproughcfe - May 6, 2013 at 11:38 PM

Both of Lebron’s misses in the last two minutes were jumpers by the way.

In case anyone was keeping track.

Choke City rears its ugly head again.

lebron wins mvp on sunday, get a new sneaker the next day. seems like the guys at nike went on ahead with the planning, designing and production phase well in advance. guess they just knew lebron would get the honor. they weren’t planning on sending these to the place people are wearing 2013 49ers superbowl championship shirts.

    • melkipershero - May 6, 2013 at 7:45 PM

Well they actually made 49ers superbowl shirts. They end up giving them away to poorer countries. I saw a story about it one day its pretty neat.

      • melkipershero - May 6, 2013 at 8:37 PM

Wow really? You 3 people need to do some research.

      • pudgalvin - May 6, 2013 at 8:52 PM

You need to work on some reading comprehension.

      • melkipershero - May 6, 2013 at 9:17 PM

Thanks for pointing that out to me though. Im typically on top of my game. Just a misread. I apologize.

    • pudgalvin - May 6, 2013 at 8:06 PM

Or Saturday night they melted some skittles, poured it on some shoes and stamped it “MVP edition.”

      • money2long - May 7, 2013 at 4:45 PM

        this was hilarious though .

  3. pudgalvin - May 6, 2013 at 7:55 PM

Looks like somebody skinned birdman and put it on a shoe.

  6. pudgalvin - May 6, 2013 at 8:50 PM

Notice he changed em at the half?

  7. 13arod - May 6, 2013 at 9:22 PM

they are going to be worth more then that goraidersgospurs about $600

    • torotrigger - May 7, 2013 at 1:03 PM

my guess would be closer to 1500 to be honest; considering its only a 500 pair release, most will be spoken for before they release.

He’s the MVP of the greatest NBA dynasty all time. Best fans in the world. I’ve been die-hard since 2010. Go Heat!

  9. eboneseagles - May 6, 2013 at 10:05 PM

Guess the shoes distracted the team in the final minutes.

    • melkipershero - May 6, 2013 at 10:06 PM

He changed at half. This is what makes laugh when people say if the Heat were in the west itd be tougher. Chicago wont roll over and neither will Indiana. Its not easy by any means.

  10. nachoface - May 6, 2013 at 10:06 PM

    So how ’bout them Bulls?

  11. lakerluver - May 6, 2013 at 10:21 PM

In another week or so he’s going to have plenty of time to wear them. Chicago in 6!!

  12. patfic15 - May 6, 2013 at 10:28 PM

    Didnt help. Chicago 1-0.

  13. deiong - May 6, 2013 at 10:31 PM

aww how nice, wonder if his little kid drew that design. something only a parent could love…

  14. eboneseagles - May 6, 2013 at 10:36 PM

Lets go Kurt, where’s the article on how this game means nothing? When the knicks article would have people thinking it was 3-0 for the hicks.

  15. kotapug - May 6, 2013 at 10:55 PM

The shoes are like his personality

  16. lakerade - May 7, 2013 at 3:07 AM

So funny he changed out of them at halftime, there’s ya boy, Nike.

  17. Mr. Wright 212 - May 7, 2013 at 1:24 PM

They need to chill with all these colorways every week.
