Royce White takes swipe at Kevin Durant on twitter after Rockets win

May 2, 2013, 8:00 AM EDT

Royce White AP

Royce White is not with the Rockets during these playoffs — he is not on the active roster, he’s not on the Rockets bench, he’s a fan. A spectator.

And in that role he decided to poke the bear and tweet something to Kevin Durant after the Rockets beat OKC in Game 5 Tuesday.

White sure does like to stir the pot on twitter. Durant has wisely not responded.

I can hear some of you right now — White doesn’t get to talk because he’s not playing. He has no standing here. He should keep his fingers off the keyboard. He responded to the people on twitter who suggested that to him.

White was the No. 16 pick in the last draft but he didn’t get on the court for the Rockets this season. He is battling a Generalized Anxiety Disorder — which has symptoms such panic attacks and a fear of flying. White and the Rockets disagreed on how his disease should be dealt with around the team. When he did return from his strike, he was sent down to the D-League. Which was another mess with White threatening not to report. Eventually he just ended up back working out at the Rockets’ facility. But not with the team.

(Hat tip to Ben at The Point Forward for noticing this.)

First person to talk trash about this guy on here, ill look at you on the same level as hitting a wheel chair person, just let this guy talk all he wants we all know he has problems!!!

    • lmoneyfresh - May 2, 2013 at 9:05 AM

His anxiety issues have nothing to do with being an ass on twitter.

      • tubal22 - May 2, 2013 at 3:32 PM

His “anxiety issues” have nothing to do with being an ass on twitter

    • eugenesaxe - May 2, 2013 at 2:53 PM

And nobody gave a rat’s ass.

  2. mz1394 - May 2, 2013 at 8:16 AM

Not nearly as SHAAAKYY as him when someone says the word airplane

    • badintent - May 2, 2013 at 8:35 PM

PBT quote of the day !! Nice, smoooooooooooooooooth,(not shaaaaaaaaky )

  3. saint1997 - May 2, 2013 at 8:26 AM

How about we keep the vulgarity to a minimum and try and show some level of decency

    • lmoneyfresh - May 2, 2013 at 9:07 AM

Not for me. I’m no saint.

      • saint1997 - May 3, 2013 at 8:31 AM

yeh that may come across arrogant but its just my last name man

    • erckle31 - May 2, 2013 at 6:13 PM

Vulgarity may not be appropriate, but this guy deserves EVERYTHING that’s gonna come his way. I’m sick of him.

  4. cantonbound13 - May 2, 2013 at 8:41 AM

    Hey Royce: AIRPLANE!! Hahaha!

  5. patfic15 - May 2, 2013 at 8:43 AM

    Royce White. Thats the joke.

  6. deadeyedesign23 - May 2, 2013 at 8:50 AM

Soooo what’s he difference between him taking shots at KD from his keyboard and everyone on here taking shots at him from theirs?

    • patfic15 - May 2, 2013 at 9:30 AM

We would get on a plane if it meant millions.

      • deadeyedesign23 - May 2, 2013 at 10:12 AM

And he would sink a 3 with an NBA defender in his face. Would you?

And to be clear I’m not saying no one should be taking shots at him. I’m saying it’s totally cool for him to take shots at KD too.

      • findthetruth90 - May 2, 2013 at 10:19 AM

Its not okay to take shots when you P**** A** cant get on a plane to play in the game that he is saying someone is looking shaky in. The only thing shaky is his legs when at the airport. F***outta here. I hate this guy.

      • asimonetti88 - May 2, 2013 at 11:08 AM

“And he would sink a 3 with an NBA defender in his face. Would you?”

Oh? Are you basing that on his vast NBA experience? Or his 10% shooting from 3 in his NBDL experience?

      • deadeyedesign23 - May 2, 2013 at 2:04 PM

        Where were you drafted?

      • tuberippin - May 2, 2013 at 2:42 PM

I personally never set out to play professional basketball for a living. Royce White did. Tell me, what are his NBA stats again? Oh, he doesn’t have any?

      • mogogo1 - May 2, 2013 at 3:09 PM

“And he would sink a 3 with an NBA defender in his face.”

He would? Then let him prove that. At the moment, he looks about as likely to do that as anybody posting here.

      • asimonetti88 - May 2, 2013 at 5:36 PM

        “Where were you drafted?”

I wasn’t drafted. But I’ve still played as many NBA minutes as Royce White, and I don’t get SHAAAKYY when I hear an airplane.

      • badintent - May 2, 2013 at 8:41 PM

Can’t they find a hoe to do the Mile High Club with him when he boards a plane ? So many groupies, they could do an American Idol Hoe contest. We could have some of the posters here for judges……….. Just thinking aloud here………………. Any volunteers ?

  7. timb12 - May 2, 2013 at 8:55 AM

I thought the Rockets could maybe win this series. After seeing this? Thunder in 6 :/

  8. thekingdave - May 2, 2013 at 9:01 AM

Dude, Royce White. After all the petulant crap you pulled this season, do not jinx us. You are not a Rocket as of this moment.

    • xLith - May 2, 2013 at 10:25 AM

Exactly what I was thinking. Get this scumbag off our team…

    • erckle31 - May 2, 2013 at 6:18 PM

For real, I was born in Houston and the Rockets will always be my second favorite team, and they honestly have a chance to take this to 7. I bet his teammates (if he even qualifies as a part of this team???) are sick of him too.

    • 00maltliquor - May 2, 2013 at 7:40 PM

I know, riiight!? Here the Rockets are gaining momentum and trying to pull off the impossible and here this joker comes out of left field, giving them bulletin board material! Harden needs to check him!

  9. shockexchange - May 2, 2013 at 9:14 AM

Royce White, the Shock Exchange has been waiting all season for you to get your “George McGinness” on. With all that smack talk, when you finally return to the court the Shock Exchange had better be impressed.

  10. raiderdan69 - May 2, 2013 at 9:14 AM

The guy hasn’t stepped on the court and hasnt even impressed in the D-league and he’s taking shots at a future hall of famer-what a joke! 1st quarter Durant posterizes someone im calling it now

  11. scadevage - May 2, 2013 at 9:16 AM

Would it be insensitive if KD responded with ” fly out here and see me “?

  12. metalhead65 - May 2, 2013 at 9:41 AM

hey moron we are fans to except we do not get paid millions to be one, return the money you stole from the rockets this year and you can say whatever you want. until then stfu!

  13. fairbanksflame - May 2, 2013 at 9:53 AM

More motivation for KD, smh… Great thinking Royce, our season will end at home on friday now…

    • xLith - May 2, 2013 at 10:26 AM

He might have done it on purpose. Screw that guy.

  14. buyerfirstrealty - May 2, 2013 at 10:05 AM

Hey Royce White doesn’t represent the Rockets in any way. His comments should not be interpreted as such. He’s just an attention seeker. He’s insignificant here in Houston and soon will be no longer employed by the Rockets.

  15. prestigious1 - May 2, 2013 at 10:48 AM

All KD has to say is airplane.

  16. ravissevens - May 2, 2013 at 11:54 AM

Yeah, this really changes KD’s mind set. He all of a sudden wants to win SOOOO much more.
This has no bearing on the outcome.

  17. erckle31 - May 2, 2013 at 12:04 PM

I was a big fan of this guy when they drafted him. Kinda like homeless man’s LeBron, which is WAY too generous. But now it just seems like he’s taking advantage of the situation. This guy has so much talent it’s just going down the tubes. Honestly wouldn’t be suprised if they just cut him after the season. Such a damn shame.

    • bamabob - May 2, 2013 at 2:08 PM

All true except the damn shame part. He’s earned it.

    • mogogo1 - May 2, 2013 at 5:48 PM

Totally with you. I was feeling sorry for him and pulling for him to make it, but now I get the feeling he’s trying to play the system and there’ll be an ADA lawsuit against the Rockets and the league if he ever gets released, claiming they didn’t do enough to accommodate him and his disability. I doubt he ever plays in the league and wonder if he ever really intended to do so.

  18. thomaskouns - May 2, 2013 at 1:01 PM

Guy can’t even make it to the plane to go to a game yet play 1 frickin minute in one to help his team once ounce.

Tired of the ‘anxiety’ stuff cause ripping second best player in the league got nothing to do with anxiety.

  19. Mr. Wright 212 - May 2, 2013 at 1:36 PM

What is with guys who don’t get ANY run talking the most? First Jordan Crawford, now this clown?

Although Durant has some explaining to do for not even battling to get the ball and going SCORELESS in the 4th. Melo gets vilified, Durant gets a pass.

  20. aewing1 - May 2, 2013 at 2:02 PM

Let’s just analyze his second twitter post. “It’s ALOT” It is ALOT? What is Royce? I see that fully funded college education paid off well. This clown isn’t skilled enough to be a Wal-Mart greeter. Maybe he could get a gig as an airport security guard. Or is that too close to an airplane?

  21. bamabob - May 2, 2013 at 2:04 PM

Royce White: “KD y’all looking shaky baby!”
    KD: “Who is Royce White?”

Hey Royce… you’re even less a part of the Rockets success than Jeremy Lin and have played in exactly the same number of NBA games as I have. It’s too bad for the rest of us that you’re not afraid of Twitter.

  22. bamabob - May 2, 2013 at 2:07 PM

What a country huh Royce? Get paid millions not to work and exercise your free speech rights to make an idiot of yourself.

  23. nomorsacbball - May 2, 2013 at 2:32 PM

you guys stop picking on deadeyedesign23’s man crush.

  24. eugenesaxe - May 2, 2013 at 2:54 PM

He’s a spectator now, and forever. Dude doesn’t seem to care, he got him a few million, he’s set til he blows it all on stupid crap.

  25. @itsChanMann - May 2, 2013 at 5:20 PM

Didn’t know he was on Twitter let alone the court.
