MRI confirms Jeremy Lin has bruised chest, is day-to-day

The Rockets are coming out of Game 2 thinking “we can get back in this series” — they just need to keep running, keep bombing away from three, keep gambling. We can debate that strategy if you want, but it almost worked Wednesday night and now they head home.

It will be easier to do all those things with Jeremy Lin, and smart money says he will play after an MRI found nothing structural from the injury that took him out of Game 2, as reported by Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle.

Lin suffered the bruise in the first half and tried to play through it, but was in too much pain to play the second half of Wednesday’s game.

Lin did not practice Thursday but both teams are off until Saturday, so you would think this would have to be one serious bruise to keep him out of the lineup for the crucial game.

The Rockets, down 2-0 to the Thunder, know they have to win Game 3 at home to have any chance in this series. They just need to have Lin back and be true to who they area — lots of threes, up-tempo ball and lots of slashing from James Harden — to make it a reality.
