The guy many Lakers fans seem to want to blame for all the Lakers woes this year — head coach Mike D’Antoni — went on the Dan Patrick show this morning.

They talked about Lakers’ loss to the Spurs in Game 1 and what needs to change for them going through the rest of the series. His focus was limiting turnovers and knocking down shots — the Lakers need to hit better from the outside or the Spurs can continue to pack the paint and make things hard for Dwight Howard and Pau Gasol

Also, Patrick asks him how he felt about Kobe Bryant tweeting during the game. D’Antoni’s too smart to say anything negative about the 800 pound gorilla of the Lakers organization.

How does D’Antioni keep getting coaching jobs when he has never been to the Finals?
He is highly overrated. He is becoming the new Larry Brown.

Your comparison fails. D’Antoni is nothing like Brown. I don’t even know what you mean by the “new Larry Brown”.

Do you mean D’Antoni has coached multiple teams with short tenures? He hasn’t, the Lakers are only his third team in the NBA. Brown hopped all over the place and gained a poor rep for it, like the time he left Philadelphia to coach Detroit.

Do you mean the D’Antoni has not gone to the NBA Finals like Brown? D’Atoni hasn’t been to the finals, in that you are correct, but Larry Brown took both the 76ers and Pistons to the Finals, a feat only accomplished by a rare few. You might remember that his Pistons team beat the Lakers, while Brown and Iverson lost the other and it was to the Lakers as well. Don’t forget that Brown also won an NCAA Championship with Kansas in 1988.

Maybe you are too young to remember but a more apt comparison would be Don Nelson.

The comparision to Larry Brown is so off that I question why already 9 people liked your comment.

I worry that Kupchak has committed to D’Antoni for another year. I don’t thiink he is a good fit.

I hate this guy. Watching him roll his eyes when told about Kobe tweeting about getting the ball inside more then calling Kobe a fan was the last straw for me. If the Lakers want to get back to being a perennial contender it starts with admitting your mistake and cutting ties with this clown rather than trying to adapt the roster to his system. One of the biggest mistakes this franchise has ever made
