Jerry Stackhouse sings national anthem before playing in Nets’ Game 1 win over Bulls (VIDEO)

Apr 21, 2013, 9:30 AM EDT

Jerry Stackhouse didn’t have a lot to do with the Nets’ crushing of the Bulls on Saturday, playing just 12 minutes while going 0-for-3 from the field to finish with zero points and two rebounds.

He did plenty for his team before the game, however, when he took the microphone at center court and sang the national anthem.

Pretty above average job, all things considered. But we shouldn’t be surprised, as this wasn’t his first rodeo — Stackhouse did this once before, while he was a member of the Dallas Mavericks back in 2007.

He did this another time when he was with the Bucks, before Game 6 against Atlanta a few years ago. Very cool.

J Stack did a great job… The crowd however could stop acting like it was a rap battle and yelling after every single line. Show some respect people! Either sing along with him as a nation, or let the man sing!

I don’t see how the crowd did anything offensive or out of line.

don’t be such a stick in the mud. and obviously you’ve never been a part of the the Chicago Blackhawks opening ceremonies. People never stop making noise.

    “The crowd however ….” Smh.

People complain about any and everything. The best praise this author could give of this guy being patriotic after a tough week was the above and another guy bashing fans for being patriotic and supportive. Super freaks . . . nothing but freaks.

This is one of the coolest things I’ve seen all season.

I love how it went from a very sweet and calm moment to very aggressive high fives and chest bumbs.

    he’s still playing??

    • kjereld615 - Apr 21, 2013 at 6:01 PM

Yeah he is and had himself some very good games this season, I should know since he had one of those games against my Celtics. He’s still very efficient behind the arc and a good passer.
