Tony Parker out Saturday against the Hawks

After playing just two fourth quarter minutes in the Spurs’ loss to the Thunder on Thursday, it’s no surprise that Tony Parker has been ruled out of Saturday night’s game against the Hawks, the team announced on Saturday.

Parker was said to be dealing with a shin injury, but the team said a neck issue is what will keep him out of action in this one.

The reality is that Parker is struggling with his health in multiple areas at this point of the season, so we shouldn’t expect to see him all that much over his team’s final six games of the regular season.

Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express-News has the details.

While the number one seed in the West is essentially up for grabs, don’t expect Gregg Popovich to risk the health of one of his players in an effort to secure it.

Championship teams have to have the ability to win on the road during the playoffs, and the Spurs know that they won’t be able to do that with unless Parker is as close to 100 percent as possible.
