Chris Bosh’s home burglarized, $340 K in goods stolen

This just sucks.

The Miami area home of Chris Bosh was broken into and burglarized while he was out at celebrating his birthday, according to NBCMiami.com (hat tip to The Big Lead).

The home of Miami Heat player Chris Bosh was robbed and $340,000 worth of watches, rings and purses were taken, Miami Beach Police said Thursday….

But on Wednesday night, Bosh was out celebrating his 29th birthday at Briza on the Bay on Bayshore Drive in Miami with a Moroccan themed party, which included belly dancers and fire breathers. And a camel named Henri greeted guests.

(Just a note as someone who was a crime/court reporter for years — Bosh’s home was burglarized, not robbed. There’s a difference and if he was out it was burglarized.)

That just sucks. If you’ve ever been the victim of this (I have) you know replacing the stuff is part of it, but it’s the sentimental value of some items and the loss of feeling fully safe in your own home that are worse. I feel for Chris.

Also, like you I’m thinking I need to get invited to the next party Chris Bosh throws.

    No alarm???

  2. DonRSD - Apr 4, 2013 at 11:55 AM

    Sounds like an inside job.

    • fventricle - Apr 4, 2013 at 12:41 PM

Wade always had that smirk on his face…

Anyone know where CB13 was last night?

    • cantonbound13 - Apr 4, 2013 at 2:57 PM

That’s low. Even I feel bad for him.

  4. somekat - Apr 4, 2013 at 12:00 PM

No alarms? No large dogs? I have substantially less in my house than I imagine Bosh does….and I have both

    • badintent - Apr 4, 2013 at 7:41 PM

And no wall safe ? Bosh , clueless in Miami

    • nygrwy - Apr 4, 2013 at 10:58 PM

I have two German Shepherds and leave my doors unlocked at all times.

Trained not to take food from strangers also

  5. money2long - Apr 4, 2013 at 12:06 PM

i hope he still has his championship ring.

    • jimmymarlinsfan - Apr 4, 2013 at 12:11 PM

If he does, we will know it wasn’t Cantonbound or some other Knicks fan

      • cantonbound13 - Apr 4, 2013 at 3:00 PM

Classless fan with a classless comment.

    • fventricle - Apr 4, 2013 at 12:42 PM

If I was him or any superstar with stuff like that, I wouldn’t store it in my house, it would be in a safe at the bank. Common sense.

      • cantonbound13 - Apr 4, 2013 at 5:58 PM

The bank is the biggest crook.

    • paleihe - Apr 4, 2013 at 5:37 PM

      He still has it.

A report I read said that they didn’t take anything that was easily distinguished. Championship ring was left intact.

  6. davidly - Apr 4, 2013 at 12:14 PM

On the one hand, I hope it was really only watches, rings, and purses that got ripped; but on the other hand, if it truly was 340 grand worth of watches, rings, and purses, then they got too many damn watches, rings, and purses.

    I think Kurt did it.

    • Kurt Helin - Apr 4, 2013 at 7:02 PM

I have an alibi. I was the guy cleaning up the camel s*** at his party. (That or I was 3,000 miles away.)

  7. bifford - Apr 4, 2013 at 12:18 PM

Word on the street is that Gilbert Arenas was the perpetrator, he needed the money for his shark tanks.

in other news…Allen Iverson opens up SwapMeet stand selling purses, watches, and rings…

  9. dominicsaunders - Apr 4, 2013 at 12:30 PM

This clearly was not an inside job because Bosh does not play on the inside anymore!

  10. BigBeachBall - Apr 4, 2013 at 12:31 PM

did they get the xbox?? ahh damnnnn.

  11. Mr. Wright 212 - Apr 4, 2013 at 12:41 PM

It ain’t even about material things. Just glad I didn’t wake up to read about another Sean Taylor situation.

    • jimeejohnson - Apr 4, 2013 at 5:52 PM

      Wright is right.

      • soflasfinest - Apr 4, 2013 at 6:20 PM

        For once! Lol just messing.

  12. broncobeta - Apr 4, 2013 at 12:43 PM

I feel bad for him on a security standpoint. I mean, it’s your house, that ain’t cool.

However, $340,000 worth of watches, rings and purses? I mean. Dude. Kids are starving and you have that much worth of watches, rings, and purses? I mean come on. You can’t take it with you.

    • kopy - Apr 4, 2013 at 12:47 PM

Chris Bosh will make $19 Million this year. To have that much jewelry (1.8% of yearly salary) is the same as someone that makes $50,000 a year having $900 of watches, rings, and purses.

      • broncobeta - Apr 4, 2013 at 11:43 PM

So you’re argument is that a pound of gold weighs more than a pound of feathers?

        $340k is $340k.

    • pellypell - Apr 4, 2013 at 1:16 PM

Anyone tell you how to spend your money? CB does a ton for the community(1 Million Dollar donation to Community Legacy to name just one). Allow him to enjoy HIS money any way he damn well pleases.

      • broncobeta - Apr 4, 2013 at 6:14 PM

I’m not telling him how to spend his money.

I’m stating that it’s a pathetic way to spend it.

    • miamatt - Apr 4, 2013 at 2:16 PM

Crazy to realize that he makes all that money back during this weekend’s Bobcats-Sixers back-to-back.

  13. pellypell - Apr 4, 2013 at 1:12 PM

They were not purses, they were satchels, Indiana Jones has one.

    • reastnt - Apr 5, 2013 at 1:59 AM

      They’re EUROPEAN!

  14. philtration - Apr 4, 2013 at 1:20 PM

If he whines enough to David Stern then Kirk Hinrich can be arrested.

  15. circuscivics - Apr 4, 2013 at 1:25 PM

Might be an inside job. It probably has something to do with his wife. She has a shady history. But he knew this prior to marrying her.

  16. fotydaze - Apr 4, 2013 at 1:34 PM

I’m guessing he tweeted about his upcoming celebration in advance allowing the crooks all the time they needed to plan the heist. Social media…stop telling everyone everywhere you are and everything you do!!!!

    • cantonbound13 - Apr 4, 2013 at 5:59 PM

      Damn Zuckerberg

  17. czechfan - Apr 4, 2013 at 1:55 PM

Lil Wayne strikes again. But dont worry, Cliff Paul will help him.

  18. Sorbet Te Charta Saccus - Apr 4, 2013 at 2:12 PM

If LeBron hadn’t made “The Decision” to take his talents to South Beach, then Chris Bosh would have never joined Miami and this would have never happened.

Damn you LeBron!!! It’s all your fault.

  19. pacodawg - Apr 4, 2013 at 2:49 PM

Camels at the door? You can’t make this stuff up?

  20. kansacity88 - Apr 4, 2013 at 3:18 PM

I feel bad for him too and I would NEVER wish anything upon anyone like that. With that being said, to be honest, you don’t NEED to PROMOTE your party and where it’ll be. That just tells burglars, “Oh snap, CB ain’t gonna be at his house!” Its just like going on vacation and getting on Facebook and telling them “Yeah, I am outta the country for 3 weeks in Belize!” HELL, you may as well just say, “Yeah, my home is completely empty and no one is there……you have 3 weeks to get in and get as much stuff as you want before I get back!” Thumbs down me if you want but it is what it is! My brother lives in Coral Gables and he even heard about Bosh’s party, and he has ABSOLUTELY NO connection whatsoever to Bosh or his friends.

  21. cantonbound13 - Apr 4, 2013 at 3:57 PM

    Were the purses his?

    • jimmymarlinsfan - Apr 4, 2013 at 5:14 PM

      Were the tampons yours?

  22. lakerluver - Apr 4, 2013 at 5:23 PM

Check the basement of paulhargis53’s mom’s house.

    • jimeejohnson - Apr 4, 2013 at 5:54 PM

      Considering you are ph53…

  23. 2difshoe - Apr 4, 2013 at 5:24 PM

Serves him right….who leaves $ 340, 000 in jewelry around the house and not locked away in a vault.

Look for Jamarcus Russell to be wearing it in training camp.

    • Kurt Helin - Apr 4, 2013 at 6:57 PM

That is just plain stupid — do you have any idea how many rich, conservative white folks get robbed of that kind of jewelry and goods all the time? A guy gets burglarized and you blame the victim? Fool.

      • badintent - Apr 4, 2013 at 7:57 PM

To be fair, we have ruled out insurance fraud. And the Mexican Cartel. But not Goldman Sachs, they rip off everyone. Just ask the European banks about Credit swaps.

  24. 13arod - Apr 4, 2013 at 5:36 PM

you guys know that purses also means money because they use that term in nascar

    • jimeejohnson - Apr 4, 2013 at 5:55 PM

But NASCAR’s NOT a sport, so it doesn’t compare.

      • cantonbound13 - Apr 4, 2013 at 6:06 PM

I’m not a NASCAR fan but it is the #2 sport behind the NFL. As usual, another idiotic comment by you Jimbo!

  25. kb2408 - Apr 4, 2013 at 5:52 PM

    Does ph53 have an alibi?
