David Lee assessed a retroactive flagrant foul for elbow that caused Dwight Howard to need stitches

Mar 27, 2013, 9:42 PM EDT

Dwight Howard wasn’t at all pleased with David Lee following the Lakers’ loss to the Warriors on Monday, and it’s because of a play from Lee (seen in the video clip above) that caused Howard some discomfort.

Howard was on the receiving end of an elbow from Lee, and to add insult to the injury, only Howard was whistled for the foul on the play. He received a technical foul on top of that for his comments to Lee and the officials afterward, but days later, the league office has attempted to correct that mistake.

From Kevin Ding of the Orange County Register:

This does nobody any good, of course, except to add a point to the total Lee has for the season, which is tracked by the league and can result in a suspension if that number reaches a certain threshold.

It’ll be interesting to see if Howard is satisfied with the league’s recognition of Lee’s act. He went on record after the game saying he’d “remember” the elbow from Lee, but considering the fact that this went down late in the first half, Howard had plenty of time left in this very game to retaliate if that was something he felt like he needed to do.

Lakers should spend some more money.

maybe they did. maybe howard’s revenge was financed by the lakers who paid the league office to give lee a flagrant. however on a more serious note, i don’t think this satisfies dwight entirely.

the only thing that satisfies Dwight is playing with his G.I. Joes dolls and his EA NBA finals video games.P.S. the Lakers are not on it.

David Lee could probably care less about “D12” or whatever lame name he goes by.

I remember an article posted on this sight where Kurt basically said Dwight needs to stop crying, that it was nothing more than a legit basketball play……..

Nobody is worried about Dwight Howard! He should worry about where his game went once he started playing for the Fakers!!! D lee was just playing power forward it’s was Dwight’s fault for playing weak defense.!! D Lee really deserved to go to allstar game.. Dwight didn’t!!! GO WARRIORS

    • money2long - Mar 28, 2013 at 12:12 AM

nothing in the above comment sounds very smart. move along folks.

baymac, Lee did lead with the elbow and did deserve the flagarant, I mean if MWP can get flagged for an elbow, then anyone else should share the same fate. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a long time laker fan and I do like Lee’s game, he’s the stretch 4 Dumbtoni and the FO should have gone after but with Jimmy Boy running the show who knows where the Lakers will end up in the future ? The Warriors have a really good team, hopefully after this season, the FO will make changes and start rebuilding the Lakers, they need talent and youth desperately if they want to compete with the Warriors and others.

  10. badintent - Mar 28, 2013 at 2:15 AM

one question ? Anyone ever see tough guy Howard dunk over Shaq ? I rest my case.

  11. chrismt79 - Mar 28, 2013 at 1:08 PM

Howard is a joke and always will be. He doesn’t have the business savy to understand what even pretending to mature would do for his career/image like Shaq did. He will always hide behind others and thus no one will ever take him seriously. Ex- when you get slapped in the mouth by David Lee and retaliation is “I’ll get you next time!” your a joke.

Herr Stern cashing those Laker checks for his retirement fund.

  13. nlruizjr - Mar 28, 2013 at 9:32 PM

Actually, it was a smarter move for d12 not to retaliate at that time, now he can choose to retaliate when they meet at home and make it look more like a tough foul.
