Chris Paul may have had the flop of the year (VIDEO)

Mar 20, 2013, 10:58 AM EDT

I know the video quality is not great, but that video does a great job of getting you to see what is my new favorite flop of the year.

Chris Paul kind of makes contact with DeMarcus Cousins on Tuesday night then tries to sell a flop with some Keanu Reeves doing Shakespeare bad acting. Whoa.

To me, this is exactly why the NBA’s system of warnings and fines for flopping were put in place. CP3 is one of the league’s most notorious floppers and he should get called out on this.

The playoffs coming up will be the real test of the NBA’s flopping policy. That is when the most people are watching games and that is when the amount of flopping became an issue last year. With more on the line, guys like Paul might be willing to absorb the NBA’s pretty small fines to get a key call. But the postseason is when we’ll see if the policy worked at all.

Hat tip to the brilliant Tom Ziller at SB Network for finding the video and bringing it to light.

Whoa whoa whoa, let’s not be hasty. How do we know he wasn’t shot by a sniper?

      Oh, right.

haha wow. Right up there with Griffin

Actually, I would say that credit should go to Kianoosh Salami, who, by recording & uploading it, may be the only reason the league will address it.

Wow lol you should be embarrassed Cp3

As funny and overly dramatic as it appears, I think he was joking around.

  7. zacksdad - Mar 20, 2013 at 11:54 AM

I agree, one of the worst flops of the year.

    1. CP3 walked in front of Cousins.
    2. CP3 pushed off on Cousins.
    3. Cousins did not move his arms to push in any way.
    4. CP3 then got hit by some ghost and flailed backwards.

And he is the leader of the Clippers, no wonder they all try to emulate him.

There might really be a phantom pusher in the NBA?!!! o.0
    Call the Ghostbusters! lmao

This is why flop city will be knocked out in the first round.

    • paleihe - Mar 20, 2013 at 3:09 PM

I doubt this flop is the reason.

It’s probably because they don’t run a decent offense, and their defense has taken a few steps back after the all star game.

love the disgusted look on cousins face

    • loungefly74 - Mar 20, 2013 at 1:44 PM

he had the look of a guy who just had a homeless man accost him. c’mon CP, that was bad, really?

@losanginsight …especially if its Denver they face.

      • zerole00 - Mar 20, 2013 at 3:26 PM

If you didn’t think the flopping was bad enough, just look at CP’s face. You’d think he was watching his family being killed with that look of pain.

      • loungefly74 - Mar 20, 2013 at 3:47 PM

hahaha! great point. ya know he is looking back thinking dang that was lame of me. he did some type of finger-point/check towards DC after the “flop”…probably to signal, “awwww, my bad, dawg!…just playin’ with ya!”

They did a lot of that on Sunday, also.

  13. tsi431 - Mar 20, 2013 at 1:13 PM

    This isn’t soccer.

    • zerole00 - Mar 20, 2013 at 3:23 PM

If this was soccer they would have called in a stretcher to sell the flop.

      • cbking05 - Mar 20, 2013 at 6:07 PM

Paul’s Puzzy Flop is just as lame as a soccer player flops…NBA has puzzies just like soccer does…

  14. andyhr17 - Mar 20, 2013 at 1:32 PM

I wouldn’t mess with Boogie Cousins like that. He’s unstable at best.

  15. lucifershuttlesworth - Mar 20, 2013 at 6:07 PM

Apparently losing to the Kings and getting destroyed by Tony Douglas in crunch time isn’t humiliating enough. What a clitoris.

  16. stayhigh_247 - Mar 20, 2013 at 9:46 PM

We need Cliff Paul to investigate the phantom pusher.
