When you set a bench mark and have cap space you can attract free agents.

Bench marks can be established by what round they advance to. They look like a 2nd Round team. If they get to the 2nd Round the Bulls can attract quality free agents and/or make great trades contingent upon their cap.

Bench marks are good indicators of how good you really are. You won with one set of guys. Imagine how you can do with new and better players that fit with your currently helpful players.

No one needs talented players. Everyone needs helpful players. “Helpful players” is a better term because, for example, there are
power forwards who are inaccurate 3 point shooters, but still take 3′s. Those types of players do not help your teams because you give
the opponent a greater chance to score. Your defense can only last so long and with referee judgement today there will be free throws shot and made by those who get the ball back and that’s why missed field goal opportunities must be
avoided during the game. The Bulls have had a big problem with that in the 4th quarter this year.

They need to look good to attract newer and more helpful players because we will look like a team that has a shot next year.

However, I think Boozer needs to be traded to a team that needs an avid scoring PF to complement their avid scoring center or tall guy. When you have avid scoring tall guys that are at least 6’10″ who have scoring averages equal at least 40% of their minutes average they are good enough scorers to give you high percentage shots or half-court basketball mismatches and we need a taller scoring PF and a more loaded bench. The 2012 bench may have been our best under Thibs.

I almost think the Bulls are just waiting to see if they make the playoffs before bringing Rose back. If they bring him back too early and they miss the playoffs, it wouldn’t have been worth it. Give him some extra time to get ready, then bring him back to help in the post-season. Sounds smart to me anyways.

@southpaw77, yeah a deep run with no bench. Have you been paying attention? Wait, dont answer that. The Bulls have been decimated with injuries all year. The Bulls best shot was with last years roster. Management has some work to do this summer. Rushing D Rose back for anything more than getting him ready for next season would be dumb. The next nba champ is gonna be either the Spurs, The Heat or OKC (i’d like to think the C’s have a shot, but lets be realistic.) Do you honestly think this Bulls roster can beat either of those 3 teams in a series? Stop playing, if you said yes. Your kidding yourself!

dude, what are you talking about? It doesn’t matter what seed the Bulls are, they aren’t built to contend with anybody this year. Do you honestly think a broken down Rip Hamilton, Kirk Hinrich, a not 100% Taj Gibson, AARP Nazr Mohammed, & a D Rose that hasn’t played pro bal in a year can compete with Indy or Miami? I love the Bulls, but it is what is is, and next year is what it is…

If falling short of a title last year made him upset then you gotta suit up before April, these shots to win a title dont come along yearly. Never know what injuries or luxury taxes can do to the Bulls future.

Lets go D.Rose, adidas put the commercials up for the return so make it happen, besides the east is decimated with injuries. NY with Amare/Rasheed/Melo, Indiana with Granger, Boston with Rondo/Sullinger, etc. So Chicago could make a deep run with Rose in a weak East, the only threat in the east is Miami.

I think that they are better off letting him play. New York is struggling without Anthony being at his healthiest and this can help Chicago get the third or fourth seed.

Losing asik was huge but losing Gibson for an extended period of time is devastating. Nazr is getting consistent minutes. Nazr!! Bulls won’t be paying to much luxury tax but without depth they won’t be winning either.
