I’m not sure which video Dan Patrick was watching but I don’t understand why he says Jones “wasn’t contesting the shot”. That’s exactly what he was doing! The reason Kobe landed on his foot was because Jones stayed on the floor and didn’t jump at the shot like most defenders would. He was playing hard defence and it may be a foul because he walked into him but it wasn’t dirty and obviously the three officials on the floor didn’t think it was a foul despite the fact that it was a pampered superstar taking a game winning shot.

I saw the play as it happened. The Lakers were down and the Hawks was really trying hard on defense. DJ was hurriedly contesting the shot because the game was close. DJ, while contesting the shot, was actually trying to get away by going past Kobe to Kobe’s right, but Kobe landed on DJ’s foot. Not leg, like if he was intentionally trying to do it- but his foot.

What Dahntay is guilty of is a foul. There should have been two shots, but it wasn’t a play where Dahntay was trying to hurt Kobe.

Waaah Waaah. Shut up Kobe. You don’t get to land properly when you fade away and kick out your front leg. It was a game-tying shot. What did you expect Jones to do, jump straight up in the air? No he jumps at the same angle as you and tries to block your shot. You don’t like it? Then don’t fade-away. Waaah. Waaah.
