You forget Chris Bosh. Dude was pretty solid.

And you also forget that Bargnani was one of the more hyped up prospects in a while. Dude had range, could drain threes, could board (he’s 7 foot, yo!) and yada yada. Obviously, we can all see that the mental toughness is lacking and he’s regressed in areas and hasn’t lived up to his potential in others, but the contract he signed wasn’t TOO ridiculous at the time.

I seriously think a change of scenery would benefit him. Toronto hates him, and he seems resigned to play the part of the villian. If he goes to somewhere where he’s the 3rd option or so, and is surrounded by hustle type players or a locker room that won’t LET you rest on your laurels, I could see a resurgence. Dude can ball, it’s just a matter of if he wants to or not.

I’d accuse the Raptors of tanking except they’ll likely go on a winning streak after benching Bargnani. And actually they seem to tank every season all season long with the ridiculous moves they make.

Bargnani shouldn’t be in the NBA. He doesn’t rebound, is a joke on defense, doesn’t get to the rim, doesn’t shoot mid-range shots well and can’t hit a 3. He’s shooting 40% from the field. League average is 45%. You could bring a below average player in at league minimum salary and get more production. So tell me again why he’s making $10 million or why a change of scenery would help this garbage player?

I guess people can finally stop using the “Toronto’s an international city” rationale as to why they draft so many European players and why they’ll be “more successful in Toronto than other NBA cities, huh? No knock against the city at all, but the only bright spots this team had were a very young Tracy McGrady and Vince Carter in his prime, and that was what, eight years ago.

This Bargnani contracts makes Isaiah Thomas’ Knicks GM moves look brilliant.

I think both parties would benefit from Bargnani being traded this offseason. He doesn’t really seem to have a place on the Raptors anymore. I still think he can be a contributor but he needs a change of scenery. Like you said though, it will be difficult considering the large amount of money left on his contract.
