Celtics will rest Paul Pierce Tuesday night vs. Bobcats

Doc Rivers has talked about getting his key players some rest down the stretch, something he has done in seasons past.

Tuesday night it will be Paul Pierce’s turn, reports A. Sherrod Blakely at CSNNE.com. Pierce will sit out vs. the Bobcats, likely meaning the Celtics will lean heavily on Jeff Green.

Pierce has started every Celtics game this season and leads the team averaging 18.7 points per game. Look for this to be the first of a few games where Pierce, Kevin Garnett and a few other key guys will get nights off.

Doesn’t Stern fine teams for this even though there is no rule against it? NBA is a joke.

Resting one player in the second half of the season is different than resting 3/5 of your starting lineup in the first half of the season. That said, the fine on the Spurs was ridiculous.

Well, Pierce got the night off……and the rest of the team unofficially took the night off as well.
