DeAndre Jordan flat out destroys Brandon Knight (VIDEO)

Mar 10, 2013, 10:55 PM EDT

DeAndre Jordan would like you to witness his entrant in the Dunk of the Year contest. It’s a good one.

First off, that is a fantastic alley-oop pass from Chris Paul, he anticipated this really well. Brandon Knight did not, and so he ends up the unwitting guy just getting destroyed.

I was at the game, sitting on press row where cheering is verboten. And there were plenty of people, myself included, who had audible expletives come out when that dunk went down. Even in Lob City that is a top-flight highlight.

Pretty soon after “R.I.P Brandon Knight” was trending on twitter and becoming a meme, to the point Knight’s Wikipedia page was updated. Even Knight joked about it on twitter.

Master P needs to edit his video,”Make’em Say UGH” to include this dunk. my goodness…that was sick.

B.Knight gotta learn to “Stay n his lane” !!! ahahahaha

  2. stevenresnick - Mar 10, 2013 at 11:03 PM

    Offensive foul

    • Kurt Helin - Mar 10, 2013 at 11:48 PM

Brandon Knight jumped from within the restricted area. So, no.

    LMFAO!

  6. adzs - Mar 10, 2013 at 11:06 PM

To me better than any of Blakes dunks in recent memory that was unreal! Although I may be in a minority who still believe Harrison Barnes created the best poster of the season; What a great year for spectacular dunks :)

    • adzs - Mar 10, 2013 at 11:09 PM

I humbly retract my statement lool rewatched the Barnes dunk and it somehow just didnt seem as spectacular as i remembered lol

    MERCY.

  8. obnoxioushack - Mar 10, 2013 at 11:12 PM

Jordan’s face on the way back from under the basket is excellent

  9. cpanthersfan - Mar 10, 2013 at 11:21 PM

Wow…those kids losing it on the sideline were hilarious too

  10. bleedburgandyandgold - Mar 10, 2013 at 11:24 PM

That’s was soooooo nasty! I just keep watching it and it just gets better and better.

  11. dacapt704 - Mar 10, 2013 at 11:58 PM

OMG!! I cant stop watching this…to me, second all time dunk over someone- behind Shawn Kemp over Alton Lister (when he pointed at him)

  12. bux1022 - Mar 11, 2013 at 12:32 AM

Straight viciousness!! Poor little piston that thought he could!

  13. dko83 - Mar 11, 2013 at 12:32 AM

Yeah, guys that try to play defense should be ridiculed!!

    • progress2011 - Mar 11, 2013 at 5:53 PM

Not ridiculed…just laughed at when their attempt fails as miserably as this !

  14. camnellum12 - Mar 11, 2013 at 12:46 AM

Man, this is not Brandon Knight’s year…first Kyrie dismantles his ankles and now this? Geez, tough break!

  15. jag8r904 - Mar 11, 2013 at 12:49 AM

Thats what you get for decommitting from Florida, punk!

    • jag8r904 - Mar 11, 2013 at 12:54 AM

j/k actually I’m a Pistons fan, too. Gutsy of him to even attempt to defend that. Jordan is 8 inches taller and weighs 75 lbs more than Knight. Its a center vs a point guard, people. Relax.

    • dko83 - Mar 11, 2013 at 2:03 AM

While I appreciate your follow up comment, he never did that. FL actually took itself out of the running for BK before he even made a decision, probably upon the realization that Cal had it in the bag.

  16. michaeljordanseviltwin - Mar 11, 2013 at 12:50 AM

That’s just nasty. The video showed several angles and replays but it wasn’t enough. Again!

  17. 1972wasalongtimeago - Mar 11, 2013 at 12:51 AM

LBJ just tweeted “dunk of the year”. Hope Knight’s not as big a crybaby as Perkins was last year.

    • michaeljordanseviltwin - Mar 11, 2013 at 9:57 AM

I remember that dunk & tweet but I had no idea there was a reaction. Perkins needs to tone it down just a notch or two. He’s got that whole team cussing and hollering at the officials this season.

  18. davidly - Mar 11, 2013 at 1:22 AM

Total respect to B. Knight for the effort..

    • eventhorizon04 - Mar 11, 2013 at 1:36 AM

      ^This

While it’s a great dunk, it’s important to remember that the average NBA point guard would have either forgotten to rotate to cover Jordan, or would have gotten out of the way rather than attempt to make a defensive play on the ball.

Knight deserves some credit for not just giving up the points. If the next guy who tries to dunk on him isn’t 8 inches taller and ridiculously athletic like Deandre Jordan, Knight might make a great block.

      • progress2011 - Mar 11, 2013 at 5:57 PM

        That makes ZERO sense !

That’s equivallent to saying, if Floyd Mayweather would have fought Tyson in Tyson’s hayday…

Floyd should get credit for just getting in the ring….even though he became paralyzed from the neck down, when Tyson cranked him with a left hook !

Learn to live to fight another day…..Get Yo LIL A%$ Outta the Way !!!!

        ahahahaha

  19. davidly - Mar 11, 2013 at 1:29 AM

Brandon Knight did not, and so he ends up the unwitting guy just getting destroyed..
Sorry, Kurt, that’s just vicarious tough-guy talk. Knight “anticipated it” as good as he could have, otherwise it would have been three from the corner; and he wasn’t unwitting, he had a pretty good idea what he was going up against when he committed to it.

  20. pantsfreezone - Mar 11, 2013 at 1:41 AM

DeAndre Jordan did not go quietly into that Brandon Knight.

    • southbeachtalent - Mar 11, 2013 at 2:26 PM

      hahahaha nice..

Did they draw a chalk outline of Knight under the basket??

      • badintent - Mar 20, 2013 at 3:17 PM

        Tag & bag.

  21. Lee C. - Mar 11, 2013 at 1:43 AM

Well, this is one case where overachieving was a bad choice…

  22. scalfor3 - Mar 11, 2013 at 2:13 AM

Brandon Knight looked like he wanted to cry

  23. badintent - Mar 11, 2013 at 3:26 AM

Jordon,Save a few of those Hell Fire Misslies for the Howard Drama show when you play the Lakers

  24. loungefly74 - Mar 11, 2013 at 8:00 AM

Master P needs to edit his video,”Make’em Say UGH” to include this dunk. my goodness…that was sick.

  25. abchome - Mar 11, 2013 at 8:17 AM

Love this dunk and Brandon Knight’s effort. Glad no one, especially Knight with a nasty fall, was injured in the play.
