DeAndre Jordan flat out destroys Brandon Knight (VIDEO)

Mar 10, 2013, 10:55 PM EDT

DeAndre Jordan would like you to witness his entrant in the Dunk of the Year contest. It’s a good one.

First off, that is a fantastic alley-oop pass from Chris Paul, he anticipated this really well. Brandon Knight did not, and so he ends up the unwitting guy just getting destroyed.

I was at the game, sitting on press row where cheering is verboten. And there were plenty of people, myself included, who had audible expletives come out when that dunk went down. Even in Lob City that is a top-flight highlight.

Pretty soon after “R.I.P Brandon Knight” was trending on twitter and becoming a meme, to the point Knight’s Wikipedia page was updated. Even Knight joked about it on twitter.

Incredible dunk! One of the best ever. Looks like his head is even with the rim.

    Man ,

I’m just glad Brandon Knight came out of it alive. That was vicious .

That was a straight up Man size dunk.

Seriously, people? A 6’11” 250 lb PF/C dunks over a 6’3″ 190 lb PG on an alley oop and you’re all excited? Really? If he did that over Greg Monroe or if it was Knight going over Jordan, then OK. But this was nothing special IMO. It was a great power dunk for sure. Seen it a million times before. Save your excitement for something that’s actually exciting. Stop lowering the bar. It isn’t the dunk of the year. Jordan didn’t destroy Knight because, as I said, a 6’11” guy doesn’t destroy a 6’3″ guy on a play like this (an alley oop). If Jordan can’t dunk over Brandon Knight, then he should be in the D-League. Dunk of the year is Jeff Green over LeBron and Bosh on the day Rondo was lost for the season (1/27/13).

he doesnt throw dunks like that down on any legit size defenders, hell jordan cant hit a jumper from where he took off for that dunk.

(Yawn) Another dunk highlight? Oh boy. They should just move the rims down to 8.5′ so every play would be this “amazing”. And what’s up with the screaming teeny-boppers on the sidelines? Cheese

Good dunk which looked better due to the limited height and hops of Knight. Seen better.
