J.R. Smith has monster night… until the shot that matters most (VIDEO)

Mar 8, 2013, 8:00 AM EDT

With Carmelo Anthony out, the Knicks needed points — enter J.R. Smith. The veteran swingman was firing away and hitting difficult, contested shots all night long. Smith ended the night with 36 points on 14-of-29 shooting.

But with the game on the line Knicks coach Mike Woodson called Smith’s number and he took one of those difficult, contested shots again. And the Thunder got the win. The lesson here, kids, is you don’t want to live by the low-percentage shot attempt.
