Amare sitting on the bench for most of the 2nd half against Miami was also a tremendous mistake.This is NY, we have the Yankees and the Giants here, I’m not happy with a 55 win season, this team has the talent to contend. He’s gotta go if they lose in the first round.

He just decided to take and hold for the final shot. Russ’ lateral movement was shaky, they were in the penalty. You have a size advantage over him. Absolutely no reason for that type of final shot.

He’s running the same system as he did in Atlanta except he has a better isolation player who can post up more easily in Anthony. He’ll put together a good regular season record and probably get the Knicks to the second round of the playoffs but that is pretty much his ceiling.

JR played his tail off. A missed good look (and nice juke) at the end of the game doesn’t make his night “not monster”. Sorry. There’s way too much second guessing that goes on by analyst and reporters. And candidly I was disappointed that Woody openly criticized JRs last second shot. Russell Westbrook is NO SLOUCH DEFENSIVELY. And JR is D-Wade circa 2006 with blow by speed and handles. Sure there was a lane, but Rusty covered it up pretty quickly. JR countered with a nice back to the basket hesitation and got off a good look. He missed. He’s made two more difficult game winners this year.

I conclude that 50% shooting against one of the best teams in the league is sufficient for a Monster Night.

This game is a classic example of the negative effect one player’s taking more shots than the team has assists has on team offense. In spite of Durant and Westbrook taking 20 and 22 shots to the teams 16 assists, they won anyway. A big reason why is because Felton, Stoudemire, and Smith took 16, 16, and 29, respectively, to the team’s 10 assists.

In the clutch moments at the end of the game, it’s nice to see a team actually move the ball around and get an easy shot, instead of having one guy hold the ball for 7 seconds and shooting.
