I must agree, it isn’t anything historic YET, and it may not get that far. But if this streak is still on in a week it does place them in elite company (obviously the Lakers have blown everbody out of the water with 33).

More impressive than the streak to me is the way Miami has handled the elite teams they have played, both at home and on the road.

First off, nobody on the Heat is saying anything even remotely “hype” about the win streak. It’s all from outside sources.

Second, in a long meaningless regular season, people need to talk about something. They bed to find meaning in the meaningless. So here’s something to talk about.

Third, it gives people a way to talk down about the Heat. The talk isn’t so much about how well they’re playing or how awesome they are. It’s about all the other win streaks that were SOOOOOOO much more impressive than this one. And then, just wait until the Heat lose. It’ll give all of you a chance to rip them again.

Is this the most over-hyped streak ever? Don’t get me wrong, it’s impressive, but it’s only the second longest winning streak this season. It’s only the third longest winning streak in the past year, going back to the Spurs winning 20 in a row, 10 of which were in the playoffs. It’s a nice run they’ve been on, but that’s it; it isn’t anything historic or even close.

The Pacers are a good team and they present a tough matchup for Miami so yes, they can.

Will they? is another question. The Heat have been on a mission of late, especially against top-tier teams, and they are awfully tough to beat at home.
